The article Media coverage of the Syrian civil war, along with other pages relating to the Syrian Civil War and ISIL, is designated by the community as a contentious topic. The current restrictions are:

Editors who violate any listed restrictions may be blocked by any uninvolved administrator, even on a first offense.
An editor must be aware before they can be sanctioned.

With respect to any reverting restrictions:

Edits made solely to enforce any clearly established consensus are exempt from all edit-warring restrictions. In order to be considered "clearly established" the consensus must be proven by prior talk-page discussion.
Edits made which remove or otherwise change any material placed by clearly established consensus, without first obtaining consensus to do so, may be treated in the same manner as clear vandalism.
Clear vandalism of any origin may be reverted without restriction.
Reverts of edits made by anonymous (IP) editors that are not vandalism are exempt from the 1RR but are subject to the usual rules on edit warring. If you are in doubt, contact an administrator for assistance.

Removing unsourced BLP claims[edit]

I've removed the material regarding the Gay Girl in Damascus hoax as it is largely irrelavnt to the discussion and does not appear to have been state-sponsored agitprop (outside fringe nutters on the interwebs). Propaganda section[edit]

The first sentence of the propaganda section of the article reads "Propaganda has been used by both the Syrian government[18] and the west since the beginning of the conflict." Off topic[edit]

Stop resinseting this paragraph without using the talk page:

The United States' National Public Radio reported in November 2016 that in Damascus "Many here seem to be carrying on with grace and dignity, even enjoying mundane, simple pleasures."^[1]

Which does not make the entry worthy of inclusion. Imho it totally lacks context and gives no useful information at all. But at least now it contains no WP:OR or WP:POV anymore. LucLeTruc (talk) 14:17, 7 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have added it back. It seems to me that a section that includes the sentence that the Syrian government "accusing the U.S. of propaganda" merits WP:BALANCE.
