Relevance of Miko Exoticwear?

[edit]

There seems to be a back-and-forth over the inclusion of the Miko store in the description of the Sexuality Learning and Resource Center. First, I'll note that this information can be sourced [1]. However, I'm not sure what the relevance to the article is, and frankly, it seems clumsily dropped in for the sole purpose of being insinuatory. On the other hand, if the Sexuality Learning and Resource Center was part of Miko's business, and not just housed there, it would probably be OK to include this info. It should probably be phrased differently, though. Iamcuriousblue (talk) 03:23, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Now I'm looking at earlier edits and I see where the conflict comes from. Quite honestly, it looks like a bit of tit-for-tat on the part of User:EconProfessor. Basically, 'if you put things I don't like in the Donna M. Hughes article, I'll add stuff about Andelloux's "Fabulous Fellatio" classes in her article'. I would hope the additions to each article would be covered on their own merits. This kind of "tit for tat" approach is uncalled for and uncivil. I found more information about Miko's business. According to this article, the store "offers workshops and classes for women and couples, both gay and straight." However, it refers to them as part of the "Miko Learning and Resource Center," which seems to be the same thing as the "Sexuality Learning and Resource Center" sourced in other articles (like [2]). Note the dates on the articles; it's possible the name was simply changed at some point between the two. I don't know if this offers any insight on whether or not the fact that Megan Andelloux's workshops were "housed in the Miko store" should be included in the article, as it seems the "Learning and Resource Center" is consistently distinguished from the storefront, but it may provide a reference in the event that other Wikipedians decide it should be included. I'll note, also, that it's not an uncommon practice for sex toy retailers to provide sex education workshops staffed with sex educators, sometimes as part of their business model, other times as a charitable contribution to the community in which they reside, and often both. As such, I'm also unsure it's something the "general reader might want to consult as a reference." --Meitar (talk) 20:18, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disclosure of interest

[edit]

My name is Meitar Moscovitz; I go by the handle "maymay" as well. I created this article some months ago after I began researching Megan Andelloux's history. She and I have both been the subject of articles published by Donna M. Hughes and Margaret Brooks (see Talk:Donna M. Hughes). After noticing the continuing edit conflicts on Megan Andelloux's article as well as Ms. Hughes' article, I'm here in order to offer as much knowledgeable information as I can to support WP:NPOV.

I'm very aware of Wikipedia's policies, and intend to strictly abide by them. I'll note I've been exercising extreme restraint with regards to the edits made by User:EconProfessor, since they strike me as disingenuous. I also think User:EconProfessor has a conflict of interest as I suspect they're either Margaret Brooks or a some other close political ally of Ms. Hughes (see this notice). In either event, my edits to Donna M. Hughes's page have been restricted to typo fixes and will remain as non-controversial as that unless I have more to offer, which I'll indicate on the appropriate article's Talk page before asking for help from other Wikipedians.

I'm disclosing my interest in these articles as I'd now like to offer additional source material for both of them. My first additional reference, however, is from Ms. Andelloux's own writing and relates to her article, so I'm going to add it here in a moment. I'll include additional references or other contributions as I encounter more sources. Please let me know if there are any more ways I can be helpful. --Meitar (talk) 04:38, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
