A memory box IS a "special box to keep items in", and as such one generally will not need another "special box to keep items in " inside of itself.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure memory boxes aren't only for children who have been stillborn, miscarried, etc. My mom has a lock of hair that was cut from my head when I was born, and it's in a little plastic baggie in a box. Can this also fall under the category of "memory box"? If not, what is the correct term for keeping a baby's lock of hair? Also, in an anime I saw, Earth Maiden Arjuna, the protagonist's mother had kept her children's umbilical cords in a labelled box. Can anyone confirm that this practice takes place in Japan (or anywhere, for that matter)? NoriMori (ノリモリ) 15:38, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The term also applies to boxes of items used as life reminders for the elderly, e.g. those with dementia. Equinox 23:30, 19 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
