There is no hard evidence available that positively connects Memphis guitars with Yamaha, nor any evidence of a lawsuit by Gibson.
According to their catalogs, Memphis was distributed by Kaman (C. Bruno & Son, Inc.) It is highly unlikely that Yamaha (who had its own distribution network) would have decided to distribute Memphis guitars through Kaman.
