Problems with article[edit]

Short of verifiability (not truth) see - Wikipedia:Verifiability; sprinkled with bias and viewpoints, see - Wikipedia:Neutral point of view; and without any real citable sources, see - Wikipedia:Reliable sources; the whole article really is as mental as anything.

Now infinitely improved - removed {POV} tag accordingly. A sincere well done to those who have worked hard to effect such a change.

Proposed major edits[edit]

Dan arndt (talk) and I intend to make some major edits to this article to get it up to B-class. Regarding comments above by Derek, Dan and I intend to apply some NPOV tone changes & supply some RS to support major claims. Interim edits may be disorganised or incomplete. The whole process may take about a week.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 02:34, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I like what you've done to the page but would like to point out that all the chart and release information I previously provided was correct. The aria chart placings were provided to me by aria by email and the Kent information was from the books. I hope you can incorporate both of those charts into the table somehow. Also, if you could get access to the complete new Zealand chart book by scappalo I'm sure there are at least a dozen releases that charted there. also, there is an Irish charts portal somewhere out there that has chart detail for live it up. Regards, digwemust —Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.72.116.120 (talk) 00:31, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the feedback, digwemust, its much appreciated.
As for ARIA Charts vs Kent Music Report (KMR), only one system is necessary for Australian singles/albums charts. As indicated in the NOTE to the Kent reference (currently #4), and further explained in the relevant articles, KMR is used for charting from 1970 (back-calculated by David Kent in 1992/1993) until ARIA created their own charts in mid-1988, (for about five years ARIA had used KMR under licence). Kent compiled his KMR into the big yellow book, Australian Chart Book 1970–1992, which is cited in that reference. After mid-1988 only ARIA's charts are used, with Australian charts portal (current ref#5) supplying an on-line source which is supported by ARIA. After the change-over, KMR (called the Australian Music Report or AMR from 1987) continued to be published weekly until late 1990s. There are disagreements between KMR and ARIA positions especially from the mid-1990s onwards.
Release information in the article is mostly from McFarlane's ref#1 but augmented by Nimmervoll's ref#2 and others including Holmgren's ref#3.
As for NZ charting, I don't have access to any of their charts books: I know they exist but I've never seen one, NZ at the charts portal is a no-show for Mentals: I'd welcome RS for NZ charting.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 05:19, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Found Irish chart info, #2 posi + ref, thanks for the headsup, digwemust.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 22:49, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have viewed Dean Scapolo's Nz chart book at the following releases are listed... Singles: if you leave me #16; too many times #23; berserk #50; working for the man #49; live it up #6. albums: cats & dogs #2; creatures #37; fundamental #22; greatest hits #36 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.73.102.150 (talk) 23:19, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • the powerhouse museum has a gold record for "espresso bongo" in their collection.
  • the free Ep "minus bonus" was given away in December 1997 on tour and at the

mentals 3 art exhibition. Lead track was "money", all tracks later appeared on garage —Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.73.230.76 (talk) 05:02, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • collection search at nfsa.gov.au using "mental as anything" "platinum" shows evidence of creatures and fundamental both going platinum.
  • recent radio only singles were "talking in tongues"/"surf n Murf" from roadcase and "the nips" from plucked. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.73.230.76 (talk) 05:25, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Have started work on the certifications - just need to track down reliable references for each.
As for the radio only singles we should probably include "Let's Cook" which was release as a radio only promotion in April 1982. There were also promo versions of "Working for the Man" and "Big Wheel" (have a look at [1]). Dan arndt (talk) 08:02, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Greedy's last show[edit]

I would query the fact that his last show was on Saturday, November 23 at Werrington. According to television reports that I have seen, it was actually in Tathra on Saturday, November 30. Editrite! 203.196.41.161 (talk) 22:26, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
