How come the E-Class page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes_Benz_E-class#W211) contains more info on the W211 than the W211 article does?!

Can someone with some knowledge fix it? :)

Duplicated information and formatting[edit]

The list of models under "2008 E Class models" duplicates the data found in the table above. Further, the formatting is extremely poor. I suggest that the additional information in the text be transferred to the table, and the text deleted. Paul Fisher (talk) 04:18, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

template?[edit]

Why do mercedes cars seem to use their own template ohere on wiki? all otehr cars are listed by their model name and then discuss various generations within the article where the mercedes seem to have seperate pages for each base on the internal platform designation used by the manufacturer. For example no one, not even MB refer to the eclass as the w211....it's just the e class. I suggest we move these articles in to the same format as other vehicles. • Mercedes certainly do use terms such as W211, and so do Mercedes fans. (Just look up any of the Mercedes enthusiast forums). Whether that's a suitable basis for naming encyclopedia pages, I'm not so sure. I seem to recall that the C-Class was originally split over several pages (W202, W203 and W204) then all combined into a single page. The overall treatment of the E-Class here is pretty poor, so a complete overhaul might be in order. Paul Fisher (talk) 10:12, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Data for pre-2008 W211 vehicles[edit]

Why is there only brochure-level data for current W211 vehicles, and no information on previous vehicles?

Production start[edit]

Mercedes-Benz Konzernarchiv explained that pre-production cars are customer ready cars of the particular type and have VIN assigned, they are not prototypes. They are also intended for trade fairs and dealers and will be subsequently sold to customers as demo cars are. They are not customer-specified but manufacturer-specified. This is the difference between "production start-up pre-production series" and "standard production". "Production start-up" is the start of production. YBSOne (talk) 18:20, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
