I entered the link for the free, no advertisement, no subscription M*Ro*dster*.*** web site. However, it was removed. This web site follows the guidelines approvied by Mercedes Benz for sites catering to their product's owners. This site is a free club, with forum and articles of history and repair information.

However, sites not removed, such as SLKWORLD.com and BENZWORLD.com both are money making ventures with advertisements and requiring paid subscriptions for certain parts. They are also in violation of Mercedes-Benz' use of trademarks requirements.

MBRoadsters.com should be allowed to be in the external links, as it is a relevent, and free site by R171 enthusiasts for R171 enthusiasts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RacerCub68 (talkcontribs) 17:31, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your site has a store. Furthermore, see WP:EL and WP:COI (conflict of interest) policies regarding links. Wikipedia is not the place to promote an "up-and-coming" site. Feel free to remove other links that violate those policies. OhNoitsJamie Talk 17:41, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks jamie, racercub68 has been advertising his website at other places, garnering annoyment on other sites as well, and now has a vendetta against slkworld.com and benzworld.org. The benzworld.org link is a list of DIYs, and in-depth articles specific to the car, not appropriate to retype on wikipedia, but of relevance to this car.--Cyberdrakon (talk) 14:29, 2 January 2008 (UTC)PS, benzworld.org doesn't require any payment, and though there are paid portions of membership, they are not for talking about cars. It's a section that allows unrestricted off-topic discussion, which may not be suitable for mass reading, either personal or political.[reply]

[edit]

I went and removed this section on the page as it is hardly relevant to an encylopedic description of a car. The addition of "rims" is hardly going to inform someone about what the car is and its specifcations. You might as well go through every single car article on the site and mention that someone has changed the standard wheels in favour of an aftermarket set.

I also went through and cleaned up some of the other information on the page as it was starting to look like an advertisement rather than an informative piece. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.202.95.147 (talk) 20:47, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Went through and added all the model information into a table similar to what is found on the MB SL page. Also went and added the information about the new updated engines.

Side note on the AMG section: we don't need to know which models aren't available in the USA. This isn't relevant to the car. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.202.95.147 (talk) 21:54, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think models outside of the US are relevant to the car. mystery (talk) 23:18, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Why wouldn't market availablity be important in an Encylopedic article? Agreed on the 'rims' but most of the modifications are specific to the car. Please leave it. Also, please sign so we can see who you are, and what qualifies you to remove information from this article.

Furthermore, why would you remove the listing of the weight of the car? --Cyberdrakon (talk) 21:58, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the listing on the weight of the car because each of the different models has different weights. saying "around" isn't really definative measure. The weight of the AMG model is far more substantual than the 200K. maybe saying what car that weight is for perhaps?

on the modications front:

Roof controller: allows roof to be opened and closed by remote and while driving without holding down the button. LED lights: License plate lights, signal indicators, etcetera. (not car specific) CHMSL flasher (Third Brake Light Flasher): Flashes the Center LED light in strobe or pulses. (not car specific) Windblocker: car comes with a fabric mesh to put between the rollbars to block the wind in some markets, sold as part of option package in other markets. Mercedes-Benz offers a clip on acrylic glass one as an option/accessory, however there are many other companies offering bolt on options. (not car specific) Tint films/Hazed Glass (not car specific) Sport air filters: can be ordered from the factory as a special option in some countries, also many aftermarket options available. (not car specific) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.202.95.147 (talk) 22:07, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Many cars allow the roof to be retracted while driving, whereas the SLK can not. This is alleviated by a module. Sport filters, are not usually available from manufacturer and is a little known option for this car. windblocker may or may not come with the car, car owners would find it interesting to find out the different options available. --Cyberdrakon (talk) 22:12, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

CHMSL flasher is popular enough that it is frequently seen on R171s, and it may be something that non-owners may want to find the purpose for.--Cyberdrakon (talk) 22:15, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just further on the weight issue, it acutally differs from that which is stated on the SLK page of wikipedia.

Maybe we could find exact weights for these different models and update both pages. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.202.95.147 (talk) 22:35, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I went through and edited the first set of information i put up for the weights of the car. I'm now using the information that has been provided by the offical website. I've also gone through and put some performance figures up for the different cars. If you can find the figures for the upgraded models that would be great! Lastly I've gone and put some references in to tie it all together and give it some credibility. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.187.139.76 (talk) 03:13, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This section should be removed, if every car article had a list of 'popular modifications' the bullshit on the honda civic article would stretch to be...very long indeed. Nobody gives a toss about neons, besides 'popular' is a bit subjective, isn't it? Comradeash (talk) 06:12, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Change the title then. the modifications are model specific so leave them there. Who listed 'neons'? Cyberdrakon (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 19:20, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Model specific my arse, they're not Mercedes made so they don't belong. Comradeash (talk) 13:49, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stop pushing your agenda comradeash. If it's wrong, you've made your statement, let someone else change it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.165.227.128 (talk) 19:26, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Strong statement for a puppet Comradeash (talk) 12:05, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comradeass, why don't you go find something you understand so you can write about that? Oh wait, looking at your talk page, no one else thinks you know anything either.

Actually, if you had actually read the section you would realize two of the things on there ARE! Just goes to show, you have no idea what you are talking about. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.165.227.128 (talk) 23:49, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New Models

[edit]

Inter alia, I think there needs to be clarification with the description of the brakes on the new SL55 or whatever it was, it goes on to imply increased braking capacity, yet then goes on to say that the new brakes are inferior because its cheaper and people who drive those sorts of cars aren't used to racing brakes. Not a brochure

[edit]

Why the need to include every single optional extra - this is not a brochure and the triva included in the optional extra list is of no benefit and is not even in any kind of order? I attempted to re-order the list, fix typos and remove a few of the really minor options that are of no consequence but some ISP editors seem to have other ideas. Its an article, infromation is a must. mystery (talk) 23:10, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
