Appearances in Lou Grant[edit]

Mr Taylor also appeared in the show LOU GRANT, in season 2; Ep 19 and in season 3; Ep 4. These both had airdates of 1979.

Birth year[edit]

Why is Mr Taylor's birthyear listed as both 1960 and 1947? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.199.145.44 (talk) 17:43, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions[edit]

The Guest History, Movies, and Television needs broken down. I can't focus on all the writing lumped together. Al (talk) 19:30, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Parents[edit]

A college professor AND a sociology professor. OK, great. Crasshopper (talk) 04:10, 24 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't believe Meshach Taylor graduated from FAMU in 1993 as Wikipedia currently states. (Probably 1970's) 170.119.138.24 (talk) 14:48, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. You'd need a reliable source to change it to that, on the flip side, the existing claim has no source either. What I've done is tagged that sentence as needing a citation and hopefully someone interested in the topic will do some digging and offer a reliable source. — {{U|Technical 13}} (etc) 15:19, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • I could not find a specific year. However, the IndyStar article used to extensively improve the Early life section makes it clear he graduated from FAMU long before he started acting professionally. I think the 1993 graduation date is erroneous, though he could have gone back for post-graduate work. Hence the 1993 date has been removed. Dwpaul Talk 15:26, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Having found some other refs, it seems he transferred to the drama program at FAMU from Wilmington College, but left before he completed his degree. However, he eventually received a degree from FAMU; it may have been an honorary degree, which would explain why it could well have been after (or about the same time as) the cancellation of Designing Women in 1993. The current president of FAMU issued a tribute to him (but only on Facebook, as far as I can tell) that described him as an alumnus. Still looking for a good ref. Possible copyvio[edit]

Considering that the only matching phrases are these:
  • teacher hertha taylor
  • the first dean of arts and sciences at indiana university purdue university indianapolis
  • worked in indianapolis as a radio reporter
  • host of a community affairs program
  • crispus attucks high school
  • florida a&m university
... I think it is rather silly to assert a copyvio. These are not copyrightable phrases. Sometimes we need to think about what our tools tell us. Dwpaul Talk 16:26, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • The fact that every other few words are verbatim is what sets it over the copyright violation threshold for me.{{U|Technical 13}} (etc) 17:02, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • It is perhaps misguided in the first place to apply the Dupdet technology to any single paragraph stating the pure facts of a life appearing in anyone's biography (versus critical analysis or some other prose where actual composition comes into play). The only way to avoid "every other few words" of this short text, mostly consisting of proper names, from matching verbatim is to insert filler, rearrange out of chronological order, and/or remove articles of speech, none of which is constructive. Such changes would not correct a true copyvio and have the potential of creating synthesis. She was, he was, he did, he was, and those are the institutions he attended. Why are tv shows listed under filmography???[edit]

Makes no sense and I've never seen any other page for an actor where tv shows are listed under filmography 2601:18F:E82:A10:1D8F:6951:6A4C:A390 (talk) 18:55, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
