Snake's likeness[edit]

I can sort of understand how someone might think Snake's look was based on Michael Madsen due to the facial portrait seen in the radio comm screens. But the close up of Snake's face that comes up towards the end of the attract mode intro makes it very clear that he was actually based on Mel Gibson: http://www.metalgearsolid.pl/obrazki/mg2/ssnake.gif Druff 04:36, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The more I look at the pic, the less I can see the resemblance to Madsen. If it is based on Madsen, it's surely based on an old publicity shot of him that would still be floating around. So far I've been unable to find it. I'll continue to look, but I'm asking for citation. Druff (talk) 18:11, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yozev Norden = Danny DeVito?![edit]

How does the original character picture of Yosev Norden look anything like Danny DeVito? He is clearly based on Donald Pleasance aka James Bond villain Blofeld. Anyone agree? the likeness of snake is that of snake plissken of escape from new york even down to the eye patch used in mgs 3 & msg 4 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.40.3.230 (talk) 22:55, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Characters[edit]

As the guy up there said, there sure is an easter-eggs-work on characters : Big Boss is Sean Connery, Petrovich is Einstein, and so on... someone with good photographs or screenshots should write the article on that. ~~ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.247.10.230 (talk) 11:03, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Subsistence FAQ[edit]

Konami removed their FAQ for MGS3 Subsistence (or changed the link); an archived version can be found at http://web.archive.org/web/20060423095908/http://www.konami.com/gs/mgs3_faq.php —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.27.63.181 (talk) 16:40, 31 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

PS2 ports of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2[edit]

I was wondering if anyone knows if the versions of metal gear and metal gear 2 that came with MGS3 Subsistence are considered the official versions of the story. As we all know the new versions include some new items and some characters names were changed so I was wondering if the new versions retcon the old ones.--

Liquidous Snake (3/29/08)

The term you're looking for is "canon", not "official". If you take into consideration The MGS3 Countdown book, which featured plot summaries based on the Mobile Phone versions released at the time, and Metal Gear Acid games, I'm guessing the new versions takes precedent over the old ones in the current canon. They don't matter much though, since the MGS games barely mention them anyway. Jonny2x4 (talk) 14:37, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Correct spelling of Zanzibarland[edit]

Within the Metal Gear series the region Snake infiltrates in Metal Gear 2 is spelled "Zanzibarland" - one whole word, not "Zanzibar Land". Rather ridiculous, but nevertheless, the way the director intended it. Zanzibar Breeze (talk) 02:17, 20 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen it spelt as "Zanzibar Land" in MGS:TS and MGS2: SOL. Of course, that could be due to the localisation team seeing more sense in writing it as a two word name, but yeah. MightyKombat (talk) 13:33, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Metal Gear 2 codec image[edit]

Could someone upload a image of the Codec from the PS2 Version of Metal Gear 2? Kennedy, 007--Kennedy, 007 (talk) 15:09, 28 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Focus on MSX2 release[edit]

As much as I respect the gamers who discovered the Metal Gear saga in the later versions, I'd like the article to focus more on the fact that it was originally a game released for the MSX2. It seems to me that the references to the latter versions (the PS2 releases ...) are obfuscating the content of the article. When you're adding info or editing the text, try to separate infos on the original and the latter version, and try to respect the chronology by talking about the MSX2 version first. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chrome58 (talkcontribs) 15:34, 5 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Some messages missing from 1997 translation[edit]

I'm sure some people already know this, but some messages were missing from the 1997 translation, possibly due to space constraints. One example is near the end where Holly finds Snake. Originally, the dialogue was a bit longer. They consisted of Holly removing the enemy uniform, asking Snake if it's all over, and Snake stating that there's still one more job to do, and Holly questioning if he's serious. These were in the Subsistence translation.2600:6C50:700C:200:B052:A56C:6712:CC97 (talk) 19:55, 18 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
