  • The lead contains a number of awkward sentences
    • "It was written by Halliwell, Andy Watkins and Paul Wilson, whilst produced by the latter two, who are collectively known as Absolute." Not done
What is awkward here?
    • "from music critics, who noted it was a good timed contribution to the Latin pop phenom at the time"
    • "The song was a commercial success in the United Kingdom, debuting at number one on the UK Singles Chart, becoming Halliwell's first number-one solo single in the country, whilst attracting moderate positions worldwide."
    • "Halliwell performed the song on Top of the Pops, Wetten, dass..?, Party in the Park in 1999."
  • Nothing about depression in fn1
  • "The first official confirmation was an announcement to the media by her solicitor on 31 May." seems to be an unnecessary and unreferenced re-hash of the previous sentence  Not done
  • "Her action aroused controversy, her former group being due to embark on a North American tour, which they eventually completed without her." awkward prose, reference doesn't support the sentence
  • "Halliwell then started developing her debut album, asking Andy Watkins and Paul Wilson, known collectively as Absolute, who had already produced songs for the Spice Girls, to help her." prose
  • "However, the four remaining girls from the group gave them an ultimatum: if they worked with Halliwell, whey could not work with them again. They decided to work with the singer." prose; also typo
  • "despite expectations for a debut at the top." whose expectations?
  • "The singer had always listened to Latin music because of her mother, who was Spanish" doesn't sound encyclopaedic to me
  • "Then she called her mother to help" for help
  • "There was a sigh at the end of the line and she said "Oh Geri, I can't remember that far back, it's so long ago". So she asked her to have a look at her library of Spanish language romances and she read the titles out to Halliwell. Eventually she came out with "¿Dónde está el hombre con fuego en la sangre?", and she liked the way it sounded, becoming the beginning of the song." sounds like something straight out of the biography. The Spanish part may be translated, as it is at one of the references
  • "the singer drops a bit of Italian – "my dolce vita" – into the chorus" prose
  • " Similarly, Chris Charles from BBC News commented that "Mi Chico Latino" could be easily mistaken with "Spice Up Your Life", Halliwell's previous hit with the Spice Girls.[11]" seems to belong in the "critical reception" section
  • "It spend fifteen weeks in the charts" grammar/typo
  • "eventually peaking number 27" prose
  • "before spending other four weeks on the charts" prose  Not done "and spending other four weeks" doesn't make sense
Why?
word order and verb agreement are not correct
  • "boy dancets" typo
  • "Halliwell first performed "Mi Chico Latino" was the opening number" spelling/typo
  • "traveled to Germany"
Referencing
  • fn4 would be better placed after the previous sentence
  • all direct quotations require inline citations
  • Chris Charles from BBC News commented that "Mi Chico Latino" could be easily mistaken with "Spice Up Your Life" almost verbatim so should use quote marks
  • "Jonathan O'Brien from Hot Press magazine was negative, stating that "Mi Chico Latino" was a dreadful pastiche of Madonna's "La Isla Bonita".[15]" again this should be in quote marks if it is the original wording, further, fn15 should be denoted as "subscription required"
  • fn18 seems to be inaccurate (listed as Madonna, showing gold, but nothing to do with Madonna and apparently only received silver - which is for 200,000 units)
  • "In Australia, "Mi Chico Latino" debuted at its peak of number 43 on the issue dated 5 September 1999, before falling out of the ARIA Charts. One month later, it returned again at number 43, before spending other four weeks on the charts." ref only says it peaked at 43 and had 2 weeks there, 6 on the chart in total  Not done
Scroll down the page and see it
I just see: entry 05/09/1999 peak 43 weeks 6 - not the same thing?
  • "The accompanying music video for "Mi Chico Latino" was directed by Doug Nichol and filmed between 5-8 July 1999 in Sardinia.[24]" I can't access the link but it seems to be of the video, how does this support recording dates?
  • " the opening number at a show held at G-A-Y nightclub" the link mentions an act on before her
  • fn26 makes some serious allegations about the song's originality, but there is no discussion of this in the text here. What happened with that?  Not done seems to be a hole here
  • this does not appear to be a reliable source
  • "On 29 August 1999, the singer performed the song on Top of the Pops.[28]" can't see this, but the text there says 26 August
  • The Italy chart position citation appears not to show the relevant information
Removed
  • The Irish chart position shows 9 at the reference but 5 in the article
 Fixed
  • The Dutch top 40 could use a more accurate reference, currently two or three clicks are needed  Not done
That's the only existing reference...
I mean use http://www.top40.nl/geri-halliwell/geri-halliwell-mi-chico-latino_5329
  • The Spanish chart position citation appears not to show the relevant information
Yes it does
  • The year-end Italian chart links to 2000 and not 1999
