Michael Bates is not a Prince[edit]

Please stop editing this article to refer to him as 'Prince of Sealand'. It's perfectly accurate as it is: stating that the claims the title. Sealand itself is notable, and as such you could argue Bates is also notable, but that does not make him royalty. The royal titles of Sealand are purely an invention of the Bates family, as is Sealand itself. 2A00:23C7:8905:CC01:B8E1:EC33:4C7F:1E2 (talk) 13:28, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

ALL royal titles are invented. :O Whoa, I just blewed your mind.--Mr. 123453334 (talk) 14:53, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe several hundred, or even over a thousand, years ago... the big difference being is that they are now legally recognised. The only people who 'recognise' the Sealand family are a few internet loons. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:23C7:8905:CC01:FCB2:23A3:E199:66E (talk) 17:05, 20 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sealandic Nationality[edit]

If the title of Prince of Sealand is used, shouldn’t Sealandic be listed as part of his nationality? 2A00:23C6:3EC4:1101:51B1:6537:9CDB:576 (talk) 22:38, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The guy can claim any title he wants, but Sealand has no recognition as a sovereign nation, so I can't see any possible argument for why it should be listed as his nationality on Wikipedia. That said, I'm not fully aware of the Wikipedia policies on this. Edderiofer (talk) 09:53, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. I’m not sure of the official policies either but I think some leeway is given to “perceptions” people have over things in cases like this. 2A00:23C6:3EC4:1101:89DB:6814:6466:98CF (talk) 21:44, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
