Link question
[edit]@Chuntuk Thank you for your [reversion] of my edit. I will accept that this does not need to be in the article because someone does not want it there; I shouldn't much enjoy to see a reference to pants pooping in an article on me. However doesn't it seem like this is because it is too relevant, not because it isn't relevant enough? I wonder if you would consider filling me in on why someone might feel the glorification of violence controversy is not relevant to her statement to the effect killing children is working. If you could provide a few reasons why Mr. Camarena (or even Giulio Regeni) shouldn't be added as links under 'See also' that would be helpful as well. I suppose what I am asking is "seriously? you don't think it's relevant? Have you even read the article?" or if you're just saying that to be polite because it's a tactless edit. If you actually have some justifications for your claim of irrelevance up your sleeve I think the article may benefit if we may hear them. Thanks again in advance - 55378008a (talk) 07:17, 14 December 2016 (UTC)
- @55378008a We don't appear to have an article on glorification of violence controversy. If we did, you might make a case for linking it to this article, if you could find a reliable source that accuses her of doing so. Mr. Camarena appears to have been murdered before Ms Leonhart was in charge of the DEA, if you have a source which makes a connection between them (other than them having worked for the same agency) feel free to add it. Giulio Regeni doesn't appear to have any connection to the DEA, or even the drugs business, why do you think he might be relevant? For that matter, why should a film director be relevant to a former DEA chief? It's not for me to prove a negative, it's for you to prove - with a reliable source - why things are relevant. That's how WP:BLP works. Chuntuk (talk) 16:12, 14 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Chuntuk Thank you for your response. You haven't answered the most important question, "Why is the glorification of violence controversy (as detailed in the article section to which you removed the link) not relevant to her statement to the effect killing children is working?" That's not how WP:CON works. I offer a more detailed response [here]. - 55378008a (talk) 12:10, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
- @55378008a The section of the article you want to link to is about Quentin Tarantino's attitude to the violence in his own movies, that essentially boils down to its first sentence: "Tarantino does not believe that violence in movies inspires acts of violence in real life." It isn't a general discussion about the "glorification of violence controversy," but refers to a very specific case. If Ms Leonhart has expressed some views on the violence Tarantino movies, let's add that to her article. Otherwise it's irrelevant.
- Now, a general article on the "glorification of violence" would be a good idea - it could tie together violent films, hip hop lyrics, and all sorts of other things. Once it existed, you could consider linking this article to it, but even then you'd need a reliable source that claims she's glorifying violence. It's not enough for you or me to think that she is, this is WP:BLP country and you need reliable sources to support contentious statements. Chuntuk (talk) 16:03, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
