Hi Erksahin, thank you for writing this page. I wanted to note I find the use of Amihalachioaie's Russian name unjustified. From his biography I can see he didn't live a lot in Russia or in a predominantly Russian-speaking area like Transnistria. You gave some of your rationale here [1], mostly based on Russian being a minority language in Moldova and on Cyrillic being official in the USSR. Regarding the first there are several other minority languages in Moldova so I don't see why Russian should stand out particularly specially considering Amihalachioaie was not an ethnic Russian. Regarding the second we would in any case add a Moldovan Cyrillic name rather than a Russian one and I don't see why would Russian and not Ukrainian be chosen for showing a Cyrillic name. I think I would find a Ukrainian name even more justified considering he was born in the Ukrainian SSR though I don't think it should be included either as Ukraine seems not to have been relevant during his career. I visited many Moldovan news sites to look for biographical on him. The reason why I included the Russian name is most of the websites I visited were in 3 languages: English, Romanian and Russian. Maybe I didn't look enough into it, or it mostly didn't exist, in the end I failed to find a Ukrainian variant of his name. I reached the conclusion that adding the Russian name would be significant, based on the fact that Russian is the 3rd language in which news were made about him. But now it seems wrong seeing there are multiple reactions to it being there. It can be obviously removed if an agreement is reached. Erksahin (talk) 18:38, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The three Russian-language sources in the article are Moldovan websites with their own Romanian version of the articles [2][3][4]. The reason why there are English and Russian articles about him is that many Moldovan websites also have English and Russian versions and thus translate anything into both. So are you implying that his name having a Russian variant is because of Moldovan news websites being multilingual, and it doesn't have much importanace other than being just a variant? (e.g. Drastamat Kanayan having an Arabic variant, etc.) Erksahin (talk) 18:52, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure I've understood the second half of your comment, but yes, I am implying there are Russian-language articles about him because some Moldovan websites are multilingual. I don't see why websites from Russia, which would not have Romanian versions, would write about him, as from his biography it is apparent he was not involved in Russian-speaking areas.
