The result of the move request was: moved. There were two major lines of argument in this discussion. The first was whether the current title, Mike Hall (musician), was sufficiently disambiguated from the musicians named Michael Hall. On this question, supporters of the move argued that it is generally reasonable for individuals named Michael to be referred to as Mike, while opponents noted that the two musicians named "Michael Hall" appear to have never been referred to as "Mike" in RS. This question saw a level of back-and-forth disagreement, and only minor gaps in numbers and strength of argument; if the disambiguation question had been the only topic of discussion, I likely would have found no consensus here. However, some supporters of the move also argued that changing the DAB to "bassist" would improve the clarity of the title, regardless of whether it was strictly necessary for disambiguation. This argument was presented by multiple users and not contested, leading me to find an overall consensus in favor of the proposed move. Mike Hall (musician)Mike Hall (bassist) – There's also Michael Hall (American musician) and Michael Hall (English musician). Current title should become a redirect to Mike Hall. UtherSRG (talk) 16:57, 5 April 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 07:09, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose, unless you have evidence that the other two musicians are called Mike. We can't make assumptions.--Ortizesp (talk) 12:42, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The only assumption this move would make is that people could reasonably think the other musicians are called Mike. Even if they aren't, that's still true. * Pppery * it has begun... 04:38, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. For musicians generally known only for playing one instrument we usually use the more specific disambiguator. After all, we wouldn't just use "sportsman" as a disambiguator if there was only one sportsman called Mike Hall; we'd still use "footballer" or "runner" or "cricketer" or whatever. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:48, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
