Mileena (Mortal Kombat)

Needs a MKSM update in the storyline.

  • Nobody considers MK:SM canon. PNF 23:45, 12 February 2006 (UTC)Proud Nintendo fan

Request

This is for ALL MK characters not just her but in their Bios or the thing that explians their weapons and fighting styles can someone please put in Allies and Rivals

Unecessary Pictures

Ok, there is absolutely no need for TEN Mileena pictures here. This really needs to get changed. This is wikipedia, not a Mileena fansite. Shadaloo 23:03, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

  • Fixed that. PNF 23:44, 12 February 2006 (UTC)Proud Nintendo fan (Just need to fix the Mileena picture mistake though)

Jade as enemy?

Is it still true after MKSM?

-Yes. Jade's since turned good, and most of MK:SM isn't canon anyways. Shadaloo 22:06, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

Baraka: Friend or foe..

Until we can confirm that Mileena's MK:D ending is canon, I say that for the time being, Baraka should stay an ally PNF 23:44, 12 February 2006 (UTC)Proud Nintendo fan

  • Her Ending wouldn't make a difference since the Tarkatan she slays isn't Baraka. Both of them are slated for Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, and both of them are assumably established as evil, so we'll see how their little conflict pans out. Goroliath

Uh...

Not to be perverted but when I enlarged the mileena pic at the bottom it shows nipple..I know wiki is not censored but where was this picture origination? The MK Deception alternate costume one.Zach 05:18, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

-That "nipple" you think you see (on her right breast, correct?) is actually Mileena's thumb nail (painted black). Both her nipples are properly covered by her sais. And to answer your question, it is a viewable content picture from the MK:Deception Krypt which apparently was featured in a men's lifestyle magazine. Minty Fresh Death 15:54, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

-Her thumb bends away from it...

I think he's talking about the one on the left. It's kinda hard to tell. Virogtheconq

-I mean her left, the viewers right with regards to that thumb. On closer inspection of her right (viewers left) breast though, there's something that could either be interpreted as a nipple or trick of the shading just below the dragon logo on the sais. But in anycase, it's an official source. Minty Fresh Death 21:35, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

Is it worth mentioning?

I found that in the recent games or so (MK:D and MK:A) in certain lighting, you can see through her veil that her tarkatan jaws are readily appearant... probably for her win animation. Do you think that's worth putting in the Trivia section? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.155.111.18 (talkcontribs)

No, it's fairly non-notable (though I do want to see if I can do the same). EVula 16:44, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
It's true, you can see through the veil. Finish a round without doing a Fatality. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 17:02, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
I noticed it myself. The most best way I saw it was from the Subway stage during battle. You can see light highlighting them under the veil if you take a close enough look. ~Ralf~
They definitely showed up in Deception if she won a round without a fatality or deathtrap (could be a brightness thing if you can't see them). Frankly, they look more like white cardboard triangles than a Tarkatan jaw (compared to Baraka and her MK2 ending). Haven't picked up Armageddon yet, so I don't know what they look like there. Virogtheconq 08:51, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Under the veil

Has Mileena's happy smile ever been scene in a game? If so is it worth mentioning?

If you look to the previous topic, you will see this is already discussed. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 05:08, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
She was shown unveiled in her MKII ending (as did all the "ninja"), though most weren't canon. I suppose one could call her expression her "happy smile" if she's interpreted as a homicidal maniac =O). I was debating inserting images from those endings into the appropriate articles, though there are probably too many as it is. Otherwise, doesn't really deserve a mention Virogtheconq 08:47, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
I think we could get away with the image of her MKII ending. Other characters have different variations pics for them. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 08:53, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
I added the pic. I also removed the "Battle card" one. It wasn't showing up. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 09:17, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Storyline

I've removed the "storyline" section which had been marked as overlong. The story related Mileena belongs, if anywhere, on the articles of the relevant works featuring her. --Tony Sidaway 17:53, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

As this has been reverted I've called an RFC. Let's get some other opinions on this. Perhaps it would be reasonable to trim the current 900-word storyline t something more concise referring to the relevant articles for detail. --Tony Sidaway 19:31, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
  • RFC response: The section should be trimmed (not eliminated) to not relate stories, but include important incidents and character-establishing information. Also, it should be written in narrative tense; currently the section is a mix of past and present. Present is probably more appropriate since this is fiction. Most importantly, this should be written about in an out-of-universe perspective; this is mandatory.--Esprit15d • talkcontribs 15:26, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Shouldn't it be "Mileena (Mortal Kombat)"?

Isn't Mileena a common name?--212.91.5.20 (talk) 16:12, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

Isn't Mileena an actual name?

The article in its current form seems to suggest every Mileena is a vidya ninja with huge knockers who likes to bite people with her equally huge teeth. Well, I believe it's actually a given name, for example there is Mileena Sumathipala of Lakbima and there's a Mileena Hayes (that is unless it's a pseudonym, like with Kitana Jade). I'd say we should rename it to "Mileena (Mortal Kombat)" (per norm, too) and make this article for the name "Mileena". (And then run a bot though the MK articles to fix it of course.) This or make Mileena (disambiguation) instead. --Asperchu (talk) 17:41, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

Who the heck is "Danni Levy"?

Someone's pushing her into the infobox repeatedly. --194.145.185.229 (talk) 14:45, 15 April 2011 (UTC)

Or was it about this YT video? (I forgot the name, possibly official cosplay or something - something about Facebook, idk.)

Mileena (Mortal Kombat)Mileena — This is the most common usage of the name according to multiple search engines. The disambiguation page only lists two other articles, one of which is a webcomic character list and the other a video game article with a footnote regarding such a character in the game. In addition, of the two real-life people mentioned in the earlier move discussion above, "Mileena Sumathipala" is actually Milina Sumathipala, and Mileena Hayes is a non-notable glamor model. So I rewrote and expanded this article as best I could

Could it be a "good article" now? I'm going to do the same with Kitana. --194.145.185.229 (talk) 12:58, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

The article needs a rewrite sadly...while there is a lot of material that is good in here for the reception section, there's also a lot of original research and gameplay cruft. It's a good start, but with some trimming it could be GA.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 13:17, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
Hey, I just did the complete rewrite. And there's much less "gameplay cruft" than in a "good article" of Reptile, that discusses various moves and fatalities in detail, in a quite gameguide-ish style (His "Forceball" attack creates an energy ball from his hands, while his "Acid Spit" attack produces a higher, faster projectile; he can also slide towards the opponent, or turn invisible for a brief period of time or until hit. - and such - what's the point?). --194.145.185.229 (talk) 13:46, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

So just list the specific problems that you see there and let's see if I can do something about them. --194.145.185.229 (talk) 13:50, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

To be quite blunt, how Reptile's article is written is how a GA is supposed to be. You give the reader details pertinent to understanding the character from both a fictional character standpoint and an element of the game series. If you check my userpage I've actually written quite a few of these at GA, including all the Soulcalibur character GA's.
Here's what's wrong with the article, at a glance.
  • Some of the information in the notes should be included in the actual text. Notes generally are not used in this fashion at all.
  • Character development information should go before the in-game storyline and gameplay aspects. This explains to the reader who and what they're looking at.
  • Don't abbreviate Mortal Kombat. You and I know what you mean, but someone unfamiliar with this subject does not.
  • The in-game plotline is what's considered "cruft". Yes she's important to the storyline, but really you should be able to summarize Mileena in just a few paragraphs of the important details. Think of this from the standpoint again of someone that has never played this series, that's who you're writing this for.
  • A lot of unreferenced sentences and paragraphs...you need to source these.
  • Reception needs some tidying...if someone says something, go ahead and quote the related parts in-sentence, not within parenthesis.
  • The pop culture references in that last paragraph really need more sourcing and evidence towards them. Worst case, the article can do without them.
There's more, but that's just what I see at a glance. Take a look at Ivy Valentine if it helps give some idea of what I mean with the above. I did say it was a good start, it's just it still needs some heavy work because it got carried too far in the wrong direction.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 14:01, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
And no I'm not riding your butt on this just to be mean: I'd love to help, but currently I'm trying to get things squared away to buy a house, and that comes before wikipedia. If I have some free time at the end of the evening I'll see what I can do.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 14:02, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
One more thing: get ahold of User:Tintor2. He's written several GA character articles, and did do extensive work trying to fix up Liu Kang.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 14:12, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

Well okay,

  • The notes I used to leave only the most important stuff in the article, while the rest is well, notes (side notes).
  • It can be moved, but the internal links must be changed accordingly (so the link will appear when the given title etc appeares first).
  • It's like super easy to do. (Done!)
  • I didn't really expand this one, actually I even moved some of this to the notes.
  • I think I'd disagree here. Where is a rule about such a thing?
  • The article had "cultural impact" section before my rewrite, only it had very little of it (just the tattoo thing). Now when it actually has cultural impact (as limited as it is, but I couldn't find more - and the Gen13 thing is actually completely unknown on the Internet and it's something that I just remembered from the 1990s), it's a bad thing suddenly? I don't get it.

And I even added the alternative text to the pictures, and dates to the references, various little things that no one did for so many years. --194.145.185.229 (talk) 14:14, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

Oh and the design section is only about the games, not overall design (the rest is other media). Also if you think the storyline is bloated here, check out Shang Tsung - it's most of his article! Now, that is one that needs a rewrite, because it's simply of tl;dr variety. --194.145.185.229 (talk) 12:57, 11 August 2011 (UTC)

Or the plot section of Raiden (Mortal Kombat) for that matter (I just did a quick cleanup on him, but the article is really bad - inlcuding having the total of just 7 references). Anyway, I'll try rewrite Mileena and Kitana again. --194.145.185.229 (talk) 10:58, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

No picture in the infobox now

The previous one got deleted for some reason. --194.145.185.229 (talk) 12:21, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Once again, ale having "Sexy Mileena" would be pretty cool. --194.145.185.229 (talk) 15:51, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Hey, some of us are busy. If you bothered getting an account though you'd be able to fix it.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 15:53, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
The pic was up for a while and then was deleted for some bs reason. Anyway, is the article fine now? (Otherwise.) --194.145.185.229 (talk) 15:58, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
What? Not again. It didn't really deserve to be deleted, from what it seems. This will be the second time I re-upload her infobox picture. I'll get to that sometime later. Kokoro20 (talk) 16:21, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

Guess you could also upload "Sexy Mileena" as an additional illustration (and the text that is now a note would become its caption). --194.145.185.229 (talk) 17:07, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

GA Review

Reviewer: Kokoro20 (talk · contribs) 15:22, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

There's a few problems with the citations. Citation #90 should be linking to page 3 of the article, rather than page 2. Citation #91 is broken, but does not have the dead link tag. Those could be fixed. However, citation #112 is no longer broken and so the dead link tag should be removed. Also, citation #103 does not even link to the "Top 10 Ugly Chicks in Games" by GameTrailers, but rather some user created video there.

A few sentences to fix:

"She is not playable in Shaolin Monks, where she appears only as a sub-boss character alongside Kitana and Jade (as well as an optional boss in a secret-stage encounter), but has appeared in the super deformed-style "cute" form in every minigame through the series ("Chess Kombat", "Puzzle Kombat" and "Motor Kombat"[Note 7])." Replace the word "where" with "but" and remove the word "only". Replace the second comma with a period. Replace "but" with "she" and add the word "also" after "has".

"Mileena was widely seen as a top-tier/the best character of Mortal Kombat II." should be changed to something like "Mileena was sometimes seen as the best character of Mortal Kombat II."

Other than that, everything is looking pretty good. Kokoro20 (talk) 15:22, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

Okay, so what now? --Niemti (talk) 18:34, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
