Ambiguity (section Ireland)
[edit]I am sure this sentence needs more clarifying phrasing as well as possibly citations to add:
The government and the Irish media had wrongly blamed Sinn Féin, then a small monarchist political party with little popular support for the rebellion, even though it had not been involved.
It does not easily make sense to me - Sinn Fein was a republican party - unless the sentence means to say that Sinn Fein were blamed first, and then the blame was shifted to a separate, monarchist, party, which ought to be named - the Ulster Unionist Party certainly were monarchist, were they pro-conscription within the island?. Royal Navy and conscription (section The Act)
[edit]I see it is stated the Act excepted sailors of the Royal Navy from conscription. I had long understood that being part of the British armed forces the Navy took conscripts in that stage of WWI. It would clarify matters if it could be stated whether or not the Navy was all-volunteer through the war and whether or not those called up under the MSA were allowed to enter the Navy in preference.Cloptonson (talk) 20:17, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
