Character Prototypes
[edit]Would there be anything good attained by adding some information pertaining to the characters as they appeared in some of Hirano's earlier mangas? Montana Max's backstory was largely revealed in Coyote and the Doctor appeared in another story, as did the captain. I could add some notes to these characters detailing their previous incarnations, but would this be all right considering that they're not necessarily Hellsing canon, but perhaps with disclaimers that they are the prototypes that inspired the final Hellsing character motifs. --Happy Millenium! 22:53, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
- Possibly some behind-the-scenes notes would be nice. Captain Günsche 19:36, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Walter
[edit]{{spoiler}}
- Walter C. Dornez
- Walter is a 69 year old retired member of the Hellsing organisation. Though now serving as Integra Hellsing's butler, he still has proved the capacity to live up to his nickname "The Angel of Death" with deadly razor sharp wires. He has a close friendship with both Integra and Alucard.
{{endspoiler}}
I think that you need a spoiler warning if you want to have this in there. Also, you need to explain WHY he's on this page at all. --Raijinili 21:16, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- He's on the page because he is now a member of Millenium, whether willingly or not. As such I think he should go in their organization page. user:God-Emperor 05-08-06 22:34
- Very clever of you to ignore my intention and read my words literally. What I meant to say is that should be explained that he's brainwashed, and the part about him being a member of Hellsing should be removed or changed because it implies that he's still a member, and thus it would be out of place. Also, the fact that he's a member of Millenium is a SPOILER, and the section should be marked with a spoiler warning. --Raijinili 11:24, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
- I wasn't trying to be clever by reading your words literally. I will change the Hellsing article to reflect his former status and implement changes here.
Gay knife name.
[edit]What the hell is an "Enchanted Forest Bowie Knife"?
A google search links to one site that shows a silly $50 knife that really doesn't look like the one from the OVA. Who put this shit up?
- I was looking for that myself. I'm a knife collector and it seems to me that it's just a fantasy knife. Looks more or less like a full tang bowie knife with a metal hand guard. I wouldn't mind adding one of these to my collection if it weren't for the fact that the only versions you can buy are made of pot metal. Someone should cut that out of the article. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 128.84.153.72 (talk) 01:31, 7 December 2006 (UTC).
12/10/06 - Please ignore the so-called "Knife Collector" silly comments, the Enchanted Forest Bowie - http://www.axtionbladez.com/PA-7973.gif - is so far the one knife I've seen that comes closest to Luke's. The Full Tang Bowie however barely resembles it - http://www.by-the-sword.com/acatalog/images/KMAPAC.jpg
- His knife is probably completely ficticious though it resembles a Kukri. I would not want to put "enchanted forest knife" as a description simply because it is misleading, superfluous, and doesn't give the reader a good idea of what it is. If we can't find the real knife that it's supposed to be I would rather we avoid trying to aproximate it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.192.245.7 (talk) 20:53, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Luke and Jan
[edit]Can we do a seperate page for Luke and Jan Valentine like with the other members?
- No, and the one that was made has been redirected. All the character pages for the series need to be merged as they do not demonstrate independant notability through reliable third party sources.Dandy Sephy (talk) 21:50, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:LukeUndJan11249.png
[edit]Image:LukeUndJan11249.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Ranks
[edit]The SS ranks seem to be fanon original research as opposed to official. I think the article should only mention the ranks given in the official translation unless there is some confirmation on them. --Phirazo 02:43, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- I reverted all your changes on every article. I haven´t really looked into it, but I seriously doubt Hellsing´s creator, Kouta Hirano, would fail to mention the German ranks of the Millennium members considering his specific use of other German words. In the series they belong to the "Last Battalion" of the Third World Reich Nazis and it´s highly unlikely they would start taking up english ranks. Please engage in a proper discussion next time before removing information that is possibly original research, it´s a lot harder to put the info back in then it is to remove it. The original writer put it in there for a reason and even so if a proper source can´t be found the info provided by giving a link to the German Nazi specific ranks is much more valuable then the nuisance behind a highly possible unsourced claim. - Cite the use of Nazi ranks in an official translation, then. The Japanese version uses Japanese ranks. --Phirazo 01:32, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- No, actually the Japanese version uses the German Ranks.
- The German ranks should be put back up. the OVA Official Japanese liner notes lists the German Ranks for the characters instead of listing the English Equivalent (IE, it says "SS-Sturmbannfhurer" instead of "Major" for the chubby little Nazi Butterball.
If you don't believe me, you will in just a moment when I scan the booklet.Here's a scan from the booklet DemonRin (talk) 03:03, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Depictions
[edit]"Luke is reminiscent of an English dandy and Jan, a stereotypical chav." Is this really true? I must say that I don't think it's applicable. Luke wears nice, white clothing, and from my understanding that has little of anything to do with the English dandy, which is stereotypically depicted with things like a cane, top hat, traditional english garb, etc. Luke's appearance is more modern than anything. I could see jan depicting the stereotype of chav to an extent, I suppose, but it didn't seem that obvious. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.192.245.7 (talk) 20:48, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Removed reference to The Boys from Brazil
[edit]I removed the following text from the introduction and merged the two paragraphs:
Millennium seems to be a [[supernatural]] version of ''[[The Boys from Brazil (novel)|The Boys from Brazil]]''.
After reading the linked page out of curiosity, I honestly could see no connection between the two groups other than their Nazi affiliation. No other explanation for the claim of similarity was given. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ReySquared (talk • contribs) 12:08, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
