"A railway station was opened at the airport in 1984."
I'm pretty sure the Mitchell Field Amtrak station opened in January 2005, not 1984. - Mark Mathu

  • You're right. I misread the magazine article where I found the information. I'll correct it.

10-30-2005, America West Airlines now operates out of Concourse D, having combined with US Airways.

This article needs to be updated

[edit]

I just updated somethings on the 440th Air Wing and how are they staying in Wisconsin. I think the update finished in 1989 should be here.Baseracer 15:08, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Layton Avenue Terminal (and other comments)

[edit]

I got stranded at MKE for five hours today and so took a bunch of photos. I'm an airport buff (and am from KC and Midwest frequent flyer). This has the best official history of any airport I've ever seen! So I will probably wonder back in here to update the history. I really, really, really wish every airport had a museum on its aviation history. The museum was actually rather crowded! Anyway one thing I'm unclear on is whether the Layton Avenue Terminal still exists. Looking at the maps I think the terminal was on the north side but was torn down for the new terminal on the west side. This is probably one of those things that's obvious to locals but is totally lost to outsiders. Thanks in advance! Americasroof 03:34, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is no "Layton Avenue Terminal" nowadays; the entire airport complex is on the SW corner of the intersection of Howell and Layton. (I do wish your photo had shown the bookstore, of which we are rather proud, as it is unique.) --Orange Mike 18:53, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Milwaukee is considered at "small" airport

[edit]

I deleted a reference to the airport being "medium." According to JD Powers Airport Satisfaction Index:

The study, now in its seventh year, measures overall airport satisfaction in three segments: large (30 million or more passengers per year), medium (10 million to 30 million passengers per year) and small (fewer than 10 million passengers per year).

well, then Mitchell IS a medium sized airport, as it now has more than 10 million passengers per year, so it should be considered a medium sized airport. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.102.201.14 (talk) 09:49, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

concourse info format

[edit]

Someone please change the concourse info back, so that it seperates the Irlines by concourse and shows gate numbers.

KC-97 ANG crash

[edit]

There was a Wisconsin ANG KC-97 aircraft that crashed off the southern part of airfield in the 1970's (I think). There was loss of life. If someone can find a reference for this it would appear that it should be included under the crash section.--TGC55 (talk) 06:57, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done. The accident was actually 1969, according to the reference. Close though. Sam.gov (talk) 18:19, 14 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

AeroMexico / Apple Vacations

[edit]

Should the flights flown by AeroMexico be listed? AeroMexico is operating them on behalf of Apple Vacations. http://www.applevacations.com/flight-schedule/mke-milwaukee/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Purduefb15 (talkcontribs) 18:47, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There is a discussion at WT:AIRPORTS. Please continue the discussion there. 71.12.206.168 (talk) 19:16, 1 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ground transportation section revision needed/COI declaration

[edit]

I'd like to update the section regarding "Airport Connection" with their current branding "GORiteway" and a revision to reflect that they provide airport shuttle service to homes in the Milwaukee and Waukesha areas, along with southeastern Wisconsin, Fond du Lac and Sheboygan and the Fox Valley. However as I work for GORiteway I must declare a WP:COI and will not make those changes myself. If someone could revise this statement; Airport Connection rebranded at least five years ago (removal is fine too). Thank you. Nate (chatter) 02:37, 13 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
