Mina is...

[edit]

Mina is not nearly completely fictional in my social studies class (im a seventh grader) i just learned about a person named Joan of Arc. Joan of arc was 17 just like mina, she heard prophecys from a god, just like mina, and she WAS burned at the stake, after being charged with witchcraft slightly like mina, but mina was not killed.

This should be proof enough that mina is truly not a fictional character, but truly a character from real history named Joan of Arc [1]

A dedicated Dragonlance fan, i have currently read about 15% of all the approx 250 books in the saga
if anyone decides to put this in the main article, please site me as the source of this thought

It's quite obvious that should be included. I actually think (although I am maybe not in the most suitable place to discuss this) that generally speakig the section about historical and philosophical/religious influence on Dragonlance is really poor. Does anyone wants to intervene? Spree85 (talk) 12:30, 20 February 2009 (UTC) Spree85[reply]

Unless there is spacific evidence stating that Mina is modeled after Saint Joan of Arc it should not be included, despite the similarities. Sovereignlance (talk) 04:28, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The main TakhsisandMina image

[edit]

I can't find any source for it, it says it's from Amber and Ash, yet I don't remember seeing that on the cover. Anyone else seen it before? Ddcc 19:18, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is incorrect. It is the cover from a Dragonlance Campaign Setting book. See www.dragonlance.com/products/SVP-4001.aspx -- ReyBrujo 19:55, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Disputing the Denouement

[edit]

If the end of the plot reveals that Mina was actually a deity, why is she listed as a disputed deity? Banaticus 20:08, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Chart of gods

[edit]

I thinks there is some mistake in the chart thats at the bottom of the article. Chaos must not be ahead the other gods but the High God must be. Chaos is the opossite to them and the creation —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Luisgojeda (talkcontribs).

Nope, the chart is right. Chaos is over them all, it would take all the gods working together plus their followers in order to stop him. See Dragons of Summer Flame.--Kranar drogin 21:49, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The chart is WRONG. The High God MUST be above Chaos. The High God summoned Chaos first, then summoned Paladine, Gilean, and Takhisis. Then the rest is history. Chaos is NOT at the same level as the High God. Also, you do NOT create a chart based on "power levels", you create a chart TO SHOW the hierarchy or chronological order. In the case of the gods of DragonLance and of Krynn, the chart MUST SHOW their place in the whole pantheon. #1: The High God's "lines" must encompass all the other gods including Chaos. #2: Chaos should be placed on the right side of the chart with simply a "right brace" showing that his power can only be equalled when all the gods joined (not including the High God). #3: Mina must not be included until it is official and clear. 222.127.12.12 (talk) 07:16, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mina

[edit]

The Chart says Mina is evil, yet then contradicts itself when it says she was a goddess of light who was deceived by Takhisis. Which is she? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.2.96.41 (talkcontribs).

That's not a contradiction. She was tricked into becoming evil. That she was a goddess of light in the past, if true, does not necessarily mean that she will side with the gods of light instead of the gods of darkness once she is aware of her nature. She has been serving evil for a long time. Edit: I realize now that you mean the chart of the gods rather than the template on Mina's page which states her alignment to be Evil. Still, this is not contradictory because she is currently evil and aligned with Chemosh. It remains to be seen if she will rejoin the gods of light. -- Noneofyourbusiness 15:07, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, since the third book "Amber and Blood" has been released we know the answer. She is neutral, refusing to align herself with either side. So as far as the chart goes, shouldn't she be at the very bottom, in the middle? There is also additional "technical" info. about Mina in the appendix of the third book, and how to use her in a campaign. The author writes "Mina is a special case, like the High God". Also,(and I am paraphrasing here) the author writes "She comes and helps all beings who need her in times of guilt, despair and pain, regardless of their alignment". She was a god of light originally, and committed many dark acts because of Takhisis' deception, but the moment she realized she was a god, she made the choice of nuetrality and is portrayed as a nuetral god by the author. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.0.239.233 (talk) 06:36, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Takhisisandmina.JPG

[edit]

Image:Takhisisandmina.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Meeting Wikipedia Standards

[edit]

In order to meet Wiki Standards, I'll be cleaning up and editing in order to make it look more like an encyclopedia entry. Furthermore, I'll go in to more detail about the plot line in order to better explain the charecter. Sovereignlance (talk) 04:27, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Great, thanks! Also don't forget that one of the best ways to improve an article is by adding citations - I noticed that you removed a couple of citations, although I admit that those were hardly in the best format. I modified the remaining citations using a template, which I copied from the "bibliography" section. 24.148.0.83 (talk) 11:26, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I helped to improve the citations in the article so that they can be more easily re-used. 24.148.0.83 (talk) 11:32, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
