65 + 35[edit]

“Currently, among 610,000 Korean residents in Japan, 65 percent are members of Mindan, and 35 percent are members of Chongryon…”

So, in a group of 100 randomly chōsen Koreans in Japan, not even one of them is affiliated with neither of the two (assuming that few people are members of both organisations)? Wikipeditor 21:49, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It reads "Currently, among 610,000 Korean residents in Japan", not "Currently, among ALL 610,000 Korean residents in Japan". There are over 700,000 people in Japan who identify as Korean, about 90% of whom (610,000) support one of the two organizations as of the date of that data. These figures might be lower today, as a recent print liberal newspaper article (Asahi Shinbun) printed after the missile tests and nuclear test of 2006 stated that Chosen Soren membership dropped sharply. Oh, I see. Thanks. Wikipeditor 06:14, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Organizations based in…[edit]

Even assuming that Chongryon and Mindan get (or got) funds or even orders from the North and South Korean states, does that make them "based in North/South Korea"? Wikipeditor 07:56, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Japanese[edit]

Why isn't the Japanese name of this organisation (在日本大韓民国民団/Zainihon Daikan Minkoku Mindan) ever given? (Stefan2 22:20, 14 June 2007 (UTC))[reply]
