In regards to the "tripod" bit, it happens during the scene where Austin Powers' father is talking to him in the prison cell. It's in a list of other jokes about the presumed penile length of mini-me. I seem to recall also the "like a baby's arm holding an apple" bit, which contrasted humorously with the shadow play bit where Mini-me grabbed an apple and tossed it up to Powers' mouth. It may be more accurate or at least more citable if we simply indicate that it is hinted at (rather extensively) that he has an enormous penis. -Fuzzy 21:49, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I thought the tripod thing meant he had three balls like Dr. Evil66.176.172.119 19:04, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Should this be included in the bio?: The Midget Count - Played by Guy Big, this is a three-foot tall clone of The Count (and possibly the inspiration for Mini-Me in the Austin Powers movies, given that Mike Myers grew up in Southern Ontario.) from The Hilarious House of Frightenstein.

what is the 1/8-rule mentioned?!

The 1/8-rule is shoddily brought across from the top of the article, that Mini-me was "one-eighth his size!". The article is a mess so it's not surprising you'd be confused. 31.205.111.215 (talk) 11:13, 19 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Naming?

[edit]

Shouldn't he be called "Mini-Dr. Evil"? - R.G. 05:31, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

The article general lacks references, but particularly the section on "Inspiration" - it sounds like a wonderful paragraph of unbased speculation. Please add references, it'd be unfortunate if the section would have to be deleted. Thanks, Ibn Battuta (talk) 00:57, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just deleted a large section of the page because of all of the Original research and in universe material. --Ghostexorcist (talk) 07:06, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

size

[edit]

Isn't one eighth referring to the volume? 1/2 ^ 3 = 1/8 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.86.9.206 (talk) 12:18, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Insipration for Mini-Me from "The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996)"

[edit]

ok, he obviously hails from Golden Gun, Fantasy Island and the Blofeld Doppelgänger, but the most direct inspiration comes from The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996). There an aging, obviously desperate for cash, Brando plays a villain doing a piano duet with a dwarf (Nelson de la Rosa), dressed like him (used as a blueprint for the "what if god was one of us" scene in Austin Powers 2). I think this should be included —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.249.45.148 (talk) 13:05, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I had added a reference to Nelson de la Rosa in Jan 2008 but someone deleted it. IMHO, an encyclopedia entry about Mini Me is not complete without mentioning the Brando IDM and de la Rosa. Lafong (talk) 03:26, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dr. Evil's son?

[edit]

If he was cloned from Dr. Evil wouldn't he be his brother not his son in terms of genetics? (75.69.241.91 (talk) 02:45, 21 December 2009 (UTC))[reply]

A brother and a father have only 50% consanguinity. Clones at 100% are more like identical twins. 84.227.255.181 (talk) 17:11, 20 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Mini Me has become a word, not just a character's name

[edit]

I got to this page from Julian Edelman's. It seems there are quite a few people who are also called "mini-me". Yet, there is not one explanation for it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.21.254.243 (talk) 20:38, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Speculation

[edit]

A Minimi is a small Belgian machine gun.

The extensor digiti minimi is the muscle extended by lifting the pinky finger -- the muscle used by the Belgian Dr Evil when he does his characteristic pose.

I wrote "unsourced" because I don't know the right tag.

This looks like speculation on artistic influences or interpretations. Though clever, both are unlikely to acquire sources that establish that they are relevant to the name "Mini-Me" as used in the movie. 84.227.255.181 (talk) 16:56, 20 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Photo

[edit]

The photo is clearly not from an Austin Powers film. Theres too much motion blur and Troyer has a beard. This photo is most likely from a convention. 2600:1012:B122:F4B7:24:1F4E:B25C:C41E (talk) 18:22, 5 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
