The following text to be merged in, from model village

The term model village can also refer to scale miniature villages created as tourist attractions as a type of miniature parks, such as the well-known "original" Bekonscot in Buckinghamshire near London plus many others around the UK at Godshill on the Isle of Wight and Merrivale in Great Yarmouth. Examples elsewhere include Legoland (various sites in Europe and the US) and Woodleigh Replicas in Canada.

Cleaning up the list of miniature parks

[edit]

The list in this article has attracted many parks that are neither notable nor noteworthy in any way. Where citations are provided they generally link to the commercial websites of the the parks themselves. Such entries amount in my view to little more than advertisements, and unless there is a consensus against it I'm proposing within the next couple of weeks to change the title “List of miniature parks" to “List of notable miniature parks", and to remove anything that isn't wikilinked. Any park that disappears can be added back once it becomes notable enough to merit an article in its own right. MichaelMaggs (talk) 12:51, 22 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Now done. MichaelMaggs (talk) 13:59, 1 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I tried to re-add Bourton-on-the-water model village as a notable example in the UK, with a reference to a factual article in the UK's Guardian newspaper about how this is now a listed structure, giving details of why it was listed, and what is notable about it. This got reverted as "Not providing a reliable source". Why is The Guardain not reliable? It is well respected national newspaper in the UK. News reporting from well-established news outlets is generally considered to be reliable for statements of fact. Twirlip (talk) 18:48, 15 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Bourton re-added. Unlike most of the other entries in the list, Twirlip actually did provide a reference for this one... No reason whatsoever for it to be omitted.  — Amakuru (talk) 10:43, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
