Automatic minibar entry

[edit]

I'm concerned about the automatic minibar entry. Added a citation request, but comments like "Top of the line companies such as Bartech Automatic System", etc make me suspect ulterior motive —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.176.1.108 (talk) 18:22, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

First mini-bar

[edit]

I am unable to find out when and where the first mini-bar was installed in a hotel room and when the mini-bar first reached Europe.

I couldn't find any history when I first wrote the article, but I've now found that Minibar Systems was founded in the 1970s[1], implying that the concept goes back at least that far. And one site says that Siegas introduced the first true (refrigerated) mini-bar in the early 1960s.[2] It's likely that early mini-bars did not have refrigerators, so there's no telling how far back it might go. I can imagine hotel guests in the late 1930s finding little bottles of liquor in there rooms with outrageous prices attached, but before that it's pretty unlikely, since Prohibition lasted until 1933. --Tysto 15:00, 24 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Name

[edit]

Mini-bar or minibar? The title differs from the content. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:03, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Anna Frodesiak: Doing a simple Google search shows that minibar is much preferred to mini-bar. I will take it upon me to update this articles title as well. I'm fairly new to it so I will see check how that is done. Amin (Talk) 13:06, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
