Disagreed. Its far better to have separate pages for each SoD as it is, rather than trying to jam 540 character descriptions, statistics and trivia into one massive article. And even if such a merger for "minor" characters would occur, Most of the characters on this proposed merger are hardly minor figures in the series, such as Lepant and Viktor. Agree! Many other things called Kreutz besides fantasy characthers.

Disagreed. Rorshacma is right. --Poki#3 17:51, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Disagree. See above. And in regards to what the guy who didn't sign said: That's what disambiguation pages are for. I'm going to start adding (Suikoden) to some characters who have common names around, like changing "Viktor" to "Viktor (Suikoden)" Ephyon 17:18, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would have to disagree, Viktor is far from a "minor" character !! NeoMagus26 15:21, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Disagree. Viktor is one of the Major characters and a bunch of Suikoden Characters have their own pages. Yayauc90 06:01, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Disagree. viktor was anything but minor. Some of the lesser used SoD, maybe. Not Viktor.

Disagree. Merging them will only compromise the information on each character, as well as make the pages look more messed up and congested. Also as mentioned, since many more major characters are not suitable for being merged due to the extensive information available, it will make the decision of merging the so called 'minor' characters unrealistic and troublesome.

Oh wow, woops. I didn't even bother to check this discussion page before merging (I never would have thought to check an talk page for an article that didn't even exist!). That said, what notability do these characters have outside their respective games? Most game articles don't have seperate articles for most characters (novels almost NEVER do, and movies almost never do either. Many TV shows do, but only because in a given show they may appear across 150+ episodes). At the very least the minor ones should be here, with articles for only the most notable few from each game. I'll let you all decide on that. Cheers, and sorry again. Radagast83 05:07, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to move all the articles back to their respective pages and propose the deletion of minor characters in Suikoden. Mark272 15:11, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Minor characters[edit]

If they are minor, they should be merged. This is supposed to eb an encyclopaedia. Guy (Help!) 16:14, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly. I think that WP:FICTION pretty much covers the reasons why there should not be dozens of two sentence articles for Suikoden. A problem? Lists for each game. The Star Wars minor lists are a good example to start figuring out what to do. Radagast83 05:16, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I would be in favor of moving this page to "List of Suikoden characters" and merging darn near all the Suiko1 characters in, arranging them by some sensible format. Exceptions can be made for characters who are in several games, of course. Now that redirects can go to anchors, navigation across such a page is considerably easier- no need to use anchor notation, just link to the page like normal (and if it ever becomes its own page again, the link is automatically working).

Not all that much information would be lost, actually. There's a lot of repeated information on these pages: a character in Suikoden X, basic background, group notes, and so on. And the statistics blocks can generally be turned into prose quite easily. If the page is merged, then information on a group/nation can all be in one section, there only needs to be one note saying "these are characters from Suikoden," and so on. A lot of these characters really only need a paragraph of information about them, and some characters merit only a sentence (like the various blacksmiths). These characters will have room to be mentioned in a list, as opposed to their own painfully short article that includes 5 sentences of repeated information or trivia, and 1 sentence actual information.

Take a look at List of Suikoden III characters, which I've tried to edit to be consistent with the style seen elsewhere on lists at Wikipedia. The article isn't even that hugely long; it's about the size that a "standard" article would be. SnowFire 17:52, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Milichoppenheimer01.gif[edit]

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page.
