Shortening the article[edit]

This article contains lots of unsourced statements, many of them purely nonsense (Ronald McDonald a graduate?!) or irrelevant. I will remove most of that. Should I happen to remove some relevant facts in the process, feel free to re-add them with a source. --Huon 09:57, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is it really necessary to have a scandals section that composes half of the wiki article on this school? I myself was looking for info about Miracosta because I may transfer there as it is closer to work, and the scandal doesn't give me real info about the school. Granted, it probably is relevant, but it strikes me as POV that there is minimal information about the school itself, and just info about the scandal, location, and a disambiguation from a high school of a similar name.72.34.130.250 22:22, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is from the previous Scandals section: "In September 2006, an alleged scheme was uncovered where a small number of the college's employees profited from selling palm trees grown on the Oceanside campus for nearly 10 years.

Faculty leaders say MiraCosta President Victoria Munoz Richart's probe into the matter is too secretive and is infecting the campus with an atmosphere of intimidation. They're planning to take action, pushing for a vote of "no confidence" in Richart's leadership. Others on campus maintain that the new climate of accountability and higher expectations with regard to ethical behavior are refreshing and appropriate. Mira Costa college is also located in vista

The district attorney's office might press charges, three administrators have left—one forced to leave on the advice of the college's lawyers—and no one is sure how far this will reach. It's likely that, regardless of who sits at the president's desk, the palm-tree scheme would affect the campus mood.[1]"

I think it could be shortened to a line or two but really reflects more of a news story than a encyclopedia article. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 64.167.164.249 (talkcontribs) 21:25, January 5, 2007 (UTC)

Yeah I agree. Like I said in one of my edit summaries, the Scandals section looks like it was just copied out of a newspaper article. —Kenyon (t·c) 06:27, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Graduates[edit]

Is anyone sure if Adam Brody actually graduated? I thought he had merely attended MCC - I don't think he ever graduated! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.181.143.195 (talkcontribs) 17:24, August 8, 2007

District Boundaries[edit]

The article states that the MiraCosta District includes Camp Pendleton, but I know for a fact that Camp Pendleton is part of the Palomar Community College District, which is evidenced by the fact that Palomar maintains a satellite Education Center on the base. A review of the MiraCosta website doesn't provide much in the way of District boundaries ... anyone have any clarifications? Otherwise, I'll go ahead and remove the reference to Camp Pendleton and replace it with the cities listed on the MCC Website. Nkovrig (talk) 03:42, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

So after doing some more research (amazing how that works) I found a listing of the Governing Board members' districts and their respective locations - the two trustees whose "Areas" abut the Base both specifically indicate that the MCC District boundaries run along the "boundary with the Camp Pendleton Naval Base [sic]."[1] Interestingly, it seems as though these "area" definitions have been in place since the earliest days of the District, judging from the use of "U.S. I-5" (which probably read "U.S. 101" at one point) and the terminology "Vista Freeway" for SR-78. I'll go ahead and change the main article to eliminate reference to Camp Pendleton being a part of the District. Nkovrig (talk) 03:48, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would have to disagree with you. See the MiraCosta district map. https://www.miracosta.edu/Governance/RAP/Images/miracosta.jpg While the northern portions of the base may be in Palomars district. The areas adjacent to Oceanside are in MiraCOsta's —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.167.164.249 (talk) 17:19, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
