Merger discussion

Merge - not enough content at Mississippi State Sports Hall of Fame to warrant it's own article. One sentence doesn't meet WP's standards for articles. I'm sure someone will say I have a conflict here, but I'm giving my opinion in good faith. -- ALLSTAR ECHO 07:26, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Merge - Agreed. However should be reworded as Mississippi State University Sports Hall of Fame rather than Mississippi State Sports Hall of Fame to avoid ambiguity between the sports hall of fame located at the university and the State of Mississippi's Sports Hall of Fame (Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum) which is a separate entity located in Jackson, Ms. -- NW —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.222.84.166 (talk) 10:24, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Doc Foglesong resignation

Please keep in mind Wikipedia's policy of sourcing and verifiability. Until a news source or MSU source says that he has in fact resigned, it can't be added to the article based purely on speculation or speculative news reports such as the current story on ClarionLedger.com. Thanks. - ALLSTAR echo 19:42, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Found official msstate announcement. Posted source on article. Laytonsmith14 (talk) 20:28, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, however I moved it to List of Presidents of Mississippi State University which is the main article for President info, as it says on the page. - ALLSTAR echo 21:23, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Building 3's name

So, I live in building 3, and definitely just checked my student record, and I live in "Nevest Hall". I can't exactly link to my transcript, but I agree with whoever changed the link earlier that the hall's name has been officially changed. Can anyone else chime in about this subject?Laytonsmith14 (talk) 20:35, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Looking at the list of buildings on the MSU web site, it's called "Building 3" so they need to update their web site. I went on and put the name in the article anyway. - ALLSTAR echo 21:26, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

It is in fact still called Building 3 regardless of what is printed on your student record. Until the Mississippi IHL approves a name for Building 3 it officially is Building 3. I am sure that once the building receives an official name change a press release will be released by the university, and the campus maps, housing website, and other resources relating to this building will be updated. I suspect that "Nevest" is something which has been inputed into the database as a placeholder or a potential new name but is not official yet, as a search of the universities website returns zero results for "nevest". If it is in fact the new name for building 3, the wikipedia entry should not be changed until such time that this name change is official and can be verified. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.19.169.105 (talk) 08:36, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Nevest is not going to be the name for Building3. If one puts a little thought into the name "Nevest" that I'm sure you found in oncampus... You can reason out that it is just an acronym for NorthEast Village East. Building3 is the Easternmost building in Zacharais (sp?) Village which was known as the North East Village through my freshman and sophomore years. Sorry no new name for B3 yet. --Evanmccaleb (talk) 22:05, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

"Flagship?"

An unregistered editor is insisting that this article identify the subject as a "flagship" university in the infobox. There is nothing in the article that substantiates this claim and he or she has not provided any references or even an edit summary to explain why he or she is adding this information. A cursory search has not produced any sources supporting this claim except those produced by the university itself. In fact, the listings I've been able to find indicate that Ole Miss is generally considered the state's flagship institution (which would also agree with my understanding of the state and the relative prestige of its universities).
