I have verified the track listing against the label and sleeve of an original vinyl copy. Side 2 track 3 shows "The Brilliancy Medley/Cherokee Shuffle", so nine tracks total. --Redrose64 (talk) 14:18, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Track listing 2

[edit]

Redrose64 is right to point out that 'Brilliancy/Cherroke' is a medley and therefore only one track, however the title given for the latter part of that on the Talking Elephant release is "Cherroke Shuffle" not "Cherokee". Also a recent edit removed the "Jolly" from the "Poor Will" title - the hangman is definitely jolly on the Talking Elephant release, both on the back and on the insert, and in line with previous recordings of the song elsewhere - was this a mistake on the original vinyl issue? Exclaim (talk) 07:04, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It was me who (deliberately) removed the "Jolly". The original vinyl may well be in error; however I do have a copy in that format (see section above), and can confirm that the sleeve states as follows:
SIDE 2
2. Poor Will and the Hangman (5.37) Thompson/Swarbrick — Island Music
3. The Brilliancy Medley/Cherokee Shuffle (3.27) Trad. Arr. Fairport — Island Music
The label on side 2 states:
2 POOR WILL AND THE HANGMAN (5.37) Thompson/Swarbrick — Island Music
3 THE BRILLIANCY MEDLEY/CHEROKEE SHUFFLE (3.27) Trad. Arr. Fairport — Island Music
The bold, italic etc. are as per sleeve, not per WikiProject Albums conventions.
Judging by the article Cherokee, and others reached from Cherokee (disambiguation), that is the correct spelling, and Talking Elephant are in error. Try searching for "Cherroke" - none found on Wikipedia; Google turns up 43600, many of which appear to be typos for "Cherokee" (such as "Jeep Grand Cherroke").
I'm off to see Fairport play Didcot Cornerstone on 1 May. If I remember to pick up my copy of "Moat" before I set off, I'll ask Peggy during the interval whether the omission of "Jolly" was deliberate. --Redrose64 (talk) 14:50, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Forgot to take it. In any case, Peggy can't remember why "Jolly" was omitted... --Redrose64 (talk) 16:44, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
