modukuru has great history from hundreds of years.Modukuru, is a small town, two hours away by bus from Vijayawada city and one hour away by bus from Guntur and Tenali citys in Andhra Pradesh State in South Central India. With a population of over 10000. People of Modukuru are very friendly in nature. Its very green through out the year in and around Modukuru. Where one can find green .Jayapa participated in the Kalinga conquest of Ganapatideva and was honoured with the title “Vairigodhuma Gharatta”. He built a temple (Ganapeswara) in the honour of Ganapatideva and made a grant of many villages to the temple (1231 CE). He built another temple (Chodeswara) in the name of his father Pinna Choda in Chebrolu (Guntur district) and made a grant of Modukuru village to meet the temple expenses. According to the Chebrolu inscription (1235 CE, April 21) he also built two-storied quarters in two rows for Devadasis (Temple dancers) in front of the temple. village on sc railway in Tsundur mandal.

Vemana Zilla Parishat High School is a very famous school in Guntur dist. From this village lot of peoples are working in good positions in abrod and other places in India.

Good transportation is there. Bus and Train routes are there. Water source also very good. It is 12 KM from Ponnuru town, 18 km from Tenali town, 23 km from Gunturu

Modukuru is located at 16°07′53″N 80°34′57″E / 16.1314°N 80.5825°E / 16.1314; 80.5825. It has an average elevation of 11 metres (36 feet). Modukuru is 25 km from Guntur City , 18 km from Tenali , 12 km from Ponnur and 45 km from Vijayawada City. Its lie in triangle of Guntur , Tenali and Ponnur cities, and is well connected by road and rail transport.
