Misrepresentation
A previous version of the article read: "Reported complications related to circumcisions performed using the Mogen clamp include sepsis, hemorrhage, staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome, necrosis of the glans penis, necrosis of the corpus spongiosum, severe trauma or injury to the glans, necrotizing fasciitis, fistulas, urinary retention, and secondary hypospadias or epispadias". This appears to paraphrase the cited source, which reads: "Life-threatening complication include sepsis and hemorrhage. Serious complications include staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome, necrosis of the glans, necrosis of the corpus spongiosum, severe trauma or injury to the glans, necrotizing fasciitis, fistulas, urinary retention, and secondary hypospadias or epispadias." However, the cited source is not discussing complications caused by the Mogen specifically; rather, it is talking about complications of any circumcision, as is clear from the preceding two sentences: "The exact incidence of complications from circumcisions is unknown.5 The range of incidence is re ported from 0.2 to 38%"
Zad68 corrected this misrepresentation of the source, but MurasakiSunshine restored the erroneous information. Please take more care in future. Jakew (talk) 12:07, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
Dubious sources, off-topic information, and extraneous details
I have gone through the article, and removed a considerable amount of information that cited unreliable sources (such as press releases or other self-published sources). I have also removed information about lawsuits in which the child happened to be circumcised with a Mogen clamp, but for which the Mogen did not appear to be implicated. Just as scalpel should not list every lawsuit involving surgery that happened to be involve a scalpel, this article should not list every lawsuit involving surgery that happened to involve a Mogen clamp. Finally, I have removed unnecessary and off-topic information such as the names of judges and lawyers (the article is about a medical device, for goodness sake!). In particular, I've removed the names of doctors and (especially) children per WP:BLP#Presumption in favor of privacy. Jakew (talk) 12:15, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
