Richard was a name Lord Sheikh adopted in business in England, his friends and family always addressed him as Iltaf.

Personal life[edit]

I removed the following unsourced sentence from the article: "Lord Sheikh has divorced Shaida Sheikh in 2015 and remarried to Guli Muradova Sheikh from Uzbekistan in 2015". If someone finds reliable, independent coverage of the subject they can add it the article. Abecedare (talk) 04:32, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

But even that might be a 'No' because the biography articles of a lot of the MPs, Peers of the Realm (whether entitled to sit in the House of Lords or otherwise), 'Judicial Peers' and 'Lords Bishops' simply state that they are married or have (or that they are with) partners, without actually stating their names. The names of spouses of otherwise-inactive 'reserve' (and unelected) British legislators (as the Westminster system uniquely allows) are not 'inherently notable' for automatic inclusion 'as of automatic right'. -- 87.102.116.36 (talk) 13:20, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to remove the main paragraph being complained about. As written the paragraph is a Westminster Village non-story, or a news-story rather than anything biographical. I don't have any information about any CCHQ investigations, but with only political complaints and no consequences - if as claimed it's a total exoneration - then it's a non-news-story. And without the results of the investigation it's probably a straight-up BLP violation. I'll probably leave the other stuff to someone else. @Zzuuzz and Bluerasberry: Hello, American here! It would seem that this is slightly relevant to the biography as it relates to other events. It would appear that semi-recently a few Tory MPs have called for Lord Sheikh's resignation in response to his criticism of Boris Johnson.[1][2][3] I feel like we need at least some coverage of this event if this bio is going to provide necessary context. I also found an unrelated report by Finance Uncovered, but I have no clue as to their reliability.
I'd also be happy to include some of the letter's contents within the article, but am I unsure how to cite it. I believe it's Template:Cite Wikisource, right? I've transcribed the letter over there just in case (link) (edit conflict) –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 17:51, 17 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'd always be wary of using autobiographical details, unless there are secondary sources. Think of the quote at the top of one particular guideline (though I've no particular reason to doubt anything in the letter). We have an article: Corbyn wreath-laying controversy which was at the time - Boris of course trying to gain political advantage in the wake of being criticised by Sheikh for those burqa comments. It was literally just a Westminster news story (and remains so). Some inclusion within a wider discussion of - I don't know - maybe his relationship to the Middle-East, or anti-Islamophobia work, or the Conservative party may of course still perhaps be relevant. -- zzuuzz (talk) 18:20, 17 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It just seems... odd to not mention it. It's been covered in WP:RS, so what else is there to do besides include it?
