Content from Functional group

[edit]

This was a redirect to the definition and discussion of moiety in the Functional group article. That material has been deleted there, making the redirect not very useful. I've put that part of the material I could find references for here. StarryGrandma (talk) 20:55, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Example from article.

[edit]

The example given in the article does not make sense. It reads

For example, methyl p-hydroxybenzoate contains a phenol functional group within the acyl moiety, which in turn is part of the paraben moiety

This would make more sense to say the paraben moiety contains both a phenol functional group and acyl moiety. A phenol functional group is not contained within an acyl moiety or vice versa. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stuvacowiki (talkcontribs) 15:25, 31 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
