Why This Article Must and SHALL be Preserved[edit]

It is unfair that the Henry C. Fulton Middle School article has an extensive description of the school but Moiola doesn't! The Lloigor (talk) 15:55, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to write the description. Alan (talk) 15:58, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The consensus is that elementary/middle schools are not notable unless there is a clear claim to notability backed up by significant, independent, reliable sources. If you have such sources please add them otherwise a redirect is the best that can be done. TerriersFan (talk) 16:01, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Then why is the Fulton article heavily detailed and allowed? The Lloigor (talk) 16:49, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Please post the link. TerriersFan (talk) 17:27, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think that TerrierFan is correct--we always handle these the way he suggests, in the absence of some really special notability shown by sound references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from them. If you can find them, then there can be an article by itself, otherwise not. It is sometimes possible: an example of what can make an elementary or middle school notable enough for a separate article is US Dept. of Ed. Blue Ribbon School Status. Let me just point out that doing it this was a compromise, to avoid the alternative of deleting the article altogether. This way, someone who looks up the school will at least find out where it is. It's a much better alternative. DGG ( talk ) 18:04, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not seeing any evidence of notability for this school, so our default assumption (as others have noted) is that we redirect. Wikipedia policies do not allow articles about topics that are not notable. The only way to have an article (rather than the redirect, which I am resetting) is to add information about what makes the school notable. "This article is no worse than some other article" often just means nobody has gotten around to nuking that other article. DMacks (talk) 04:00, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
