Age of Student's Ollympiad Participants[edit]

There was a clear rule that no players over 27 years of age were able to Participate in the Student Ollympiads. However, several Mongolian players have Student Ollympiads listed on their profiles while in early to late 30's. If it would be one, I would consider it as inaccuracy and simply remove, but it is a case with several of them? Emma knows it well (talk) 23:13, 5 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Emma knows it well: Have you identified the source of the problem? Is the player's age incorrectly given, or is the player's year of participation in the Student Olympiad incorrectly given? Or are they both correct, and the rule was broken somehow? Give some examples. Bruce leverett (talk) 04:51, 6 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think it must be the ages of the players as it is for several players. Hard to imagine team Mongolia being able to field entire/half team above the age limit. However, hard to find sources to confirm/refute the dates of birth provided on the wiki pages. Emma knows it well (talk) 06:58, 6 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Without any evidence one way or the other, I would not be surprised at all if age restrictions were relaxed for certain countries to enable more of them to participate. I wouldn't think of FIDE as an organization that's historically prioritized rigorously enforcing its own rules. Cobblet (talk) 13:41, 6 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
