Major updates[edit]

It's been a while since the page has had any major overhaul to update things with recent changes to campus, programs and athletics, so I'm going to begin doing that as well as expanding the history section a bit since there's definitely more info out there that would be relevant to the university's page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rthessler (talkcontribs) 22:10, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism[edit]

The Montana Tech entry has been seriously vandalized. This sort of silly vandalism is not only disrespectful to those who work at posting legitimate content, it is also genuinely harmful to the institution. Where are the allegedly tough Wiki "anti-vandal cops" when you need them? EcoRover 23:33, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've tried to change the entry back to an earlier (and I hope correct) edition. I'm not sure I've done this right, but at least I rid of the obvious vandal nonsense.

Classic![edit]

I love the section describing the Professional and Technical Communication program. Apparently, that program does not teach about unclear references, redundancy, and sentence writing in general.BSMet94 (talk) 21:35, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speak Now...[edit]

I'm going to do a re-vamp on the Montana Tech page (you'd think someone from the college would do this). I started by rewriting the introduction. The History section needs to be cleaned up. There are a lot of funny statements in there that have no basis in fact; for example, the bit about changing the name leading to increased enrollment. That's a supposition that can neither be proven nor refuted. The "Present" section can get deleted (covered in the intro paragraph). The "Education" secion should either cover all academic departments, programs, etc. or it should be general. The way it's written, you'd wonder if a degree in mining engineering could even be had at Montana Tech. So... if you have any ideas for fixing this horrible article on Montana Tech, now is the time to voice them... better yet, edit the page and we can do this together!

A couple of loose ends: Was the latin name originator of "De Re Metallica" Georg Agricola or Georgius Agricola??? Anyone care or know why the school motto was changed form Glück Auf to De Re Metallica when the name changed from the School of Mines? Take a look at the shield in the stained glass window of Prospector Hall. Glück Auf was the old German coal miners saying.BSMet94 (talk) 19:40, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OK, fair warning was given (over a year ago). I'm removing the the "Present" section, and getting rid of the specific degree program sections in the "Education" section, and replacing it with a much more general paragraph, until a better indexed section can be written covering the academic departments and various degrees offered at Tech. I should have some time to work on this over the next few days. BSMet94 (talk) 02:27, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Close Paraphrase Tag[edit]

Good job with the tag! Now, hopefully someone will help to clean up this dreadful Wikipedia entry that does not do justice to Tech. Thanks.BSMet94 (talk) 05:34, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
