Is the UK Space's MoonLITE project still on?

This guy just wrote what I wanted to ask. Uziel302 (talk) 22:35, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Would assume not, although I haven't seen anything concrete - but as far as I know no hardware has been produced and no launch contract is signed - it is certainly not going in 2014. --W. D. Graham 22:51, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It's been shelved, but the penetrator technology got taken up by ESA and may be used in future missions, see this BBC news item.

"The space penetrator has itself been in development for almost 10 years, and was originally proposed for a British lunar mission called Moonlite.

"That venture was eventually shelved, but the idea of a "hard lander" was so compelling, the European Space Agency decided to pick up the concept."
