Information[edit]

Dumelow: Is the information at Kostroma Moose Farm#History of the moose domestication work in Russia verifiable? It would merit a mention if so. Eddie891 Talk Work 23:50, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Eddie891, good find. Because of how widespread the hoax seems to have become I am sceptical of any post-2010 information unless it is from very reliable sources. I see the information in that article was added in 2006, I also found a 2004 BBC article that mentions similar themes ("It all started in the late 1930s when Stalin thought elk could replace horses in cavalry regiments based in the north") but only as a quote from the farm manager. There may very well be a kernel of truth in there somewhere (or at least a widespread confusion between the moose domestication project and their potential use in the military). I will add a little to the article to explain this and link to Kostroma - Dumelow (talk) 06:53, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
