Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on December 30, 2016.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that the Nuclear Reactor Building on the University of Washington campus in Seattle was designed with large glass windows to "proudly showcase" the reactor?
Current status: Featured article

Public viewing

[edit]

One of the amazing things about this building, especially from a post-9/11 perspective, is that it was designed "with large glass walls proudly showcasing what was going on inside" [1] to facilitate public viewing of the reactor operation; it had a glass perimeter and no barriers at all that I'm aware of. This would make a great DYK hook. - Brianhe (talk) 07:04, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I've added it to the DYK nomination. Thanks for bringing it up. SounderBruce 07:45, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Note how at 0:20 in the PreserveWA video you can see an early Volkswagen Beetle parked right up against the foundation of the building? They'd call that a pretty big hazard for anything on campus nowadays, let alone a nuclear reactor. - Brianhe (talk) 23:47, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
