Italics[edit]

Perrydigm, Should the genera terms be italicized?–CaroleHenson (talk) 12:40, 14 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Citation formatting and page citing[edit]

This text was in the article, but there needs to be some work on the citations and it will be easier to explain here:

In 1916, he erected both the Genera Symploce[1] and Xestoblatta [2], and in 1929 he described several new genera of Malayan Blattidae on a scientific base including the genera Shelfordina [3], Malaccina, Graptoblatta and Hebardula.[4]

  • You just need to have the source for the information, not the footnotes from the subject of the article (a primary source).
  • The footnote, though, should cover the content from the secondary source and it doesn't look like page 1 covers the source.
  • The author names and titles don't need to be capitalized, as they are in a few cases, like "STUDIES ON MALAYAN BLATTIDAE".–CaroleHenson (talk) 03:12, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely right. This passage was definitely a 'work in progress' and did not belong on the finished page. Thank you for setting up this "talk" page. As an almost total newbie, it often takes me a few passes to get formatting and citations sorted properly and going straight to the completed page was an act of premature confidence that I would eventually work out the glitches. I really do appreciate your help in working this stuff out. Perrydigm (talk) 21:42, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Have a citation for this?[edit]

"Species were also named in his honor by others including Hebardia Pellucida."

You're absolutely right about these issues. I was used to using the page as a 'work in progress' and was effectively making notes to myself for later follow-up and hadn't converted to the higher standards due for a functioning page... This is a much better way to address the multiple issues. Thanks for setting it up, and thanks again for ALL the help with this page/process
