Meaning of word Moron in 1830

[edit]

So we don't have a conversation like the one at Talk:Angel Moroni#Morons, it's important to know that in 1830 the term moron did not have it's current meaning.

The term "moron" as meaning a degree of intelligence post-dates the publication of the Book of Mormon by 80 years. Henry H. Goddard introduced the word with that meaning as a technical term in 1910, based on the Greek mōros, meaning stupid or foolish. Only later in the 20th century did "moron" become a synonym for idiot in common parlance. -- 208.81.184.4 (talk) 22:47, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Blair Hodges wrote an article titled "Mormons and Morons" about this very topic on 24 October 2012 at By Common Consent. -- 208.81.184.4 (talk) 19:18, 12 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
