MKA Characters

You forgot to meantion that Chameleon, Khameleon, Meat and Monster were also not included in the picture.

Well, to be fair, Chameleon, Khameleon, and Meat were pastiche characters, and Monster only showed up for a brief moment in the Konquest Mode of Deception (the characters in the picture only represent characters in the regular game modes). Although I'd love for Monster to show up ^_^ The S

Technically, Reptile and Noob Saibot, arguably two of the series' most popular characters, began their lives as "pastiche" characters. I'd really like to see Khameleon appear in Armageddon so that her storyline can be drawn upon more (i.e., we find out if she actually manages to tell Reptile the truth about their race). Jeff Silvers 02:45, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Indeed, as well as Jade and Smoke. If I had my way, each of those characters mentioned would be playable in Armageddon. But, for the love of Raiden, Chameleon and Khameleon weren't even in Deception's Konquest mode which boasted "every character thus far". Either Midway forgot about them, retconned them out of the series, or (I hope), have something planned for them in the future. The S

True. Anyway, it may be a moot point; if they don't include the characters, you could always just create (kreate?) them in Kreate-a-Kombatant. Jeff Silvers 23:38, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

Khameleon hasn't been forgotten about, not entirely. They did mention her in MKDA's Konquest, when you failed one of Nitara's Kama missions. So there's a wee bit of hope for her, I'd say. Wouldn't be so optimistic about Chameleon's chances, though. Shadaloo 09:09, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

She was also more recently referenced as an ally of Reptile for his Mortal Kombat: Deception trading card, further acknowledgement of their possible ties together. Goroliath

Just so you guys know, I was the one who posted that MKA characters comment at the top. I did it before I got an account. Also, I was watching either one of the videos on IGN or Gamespot, and Ed Boon confirmed that Motaro would be in the game and he STRESSED that "every fighter that ever through a punch" in the MK Universe would be in the game. SilentRage 05:57, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

It is Also confirmed that Onaga Well be plyable according to the video that i once downloaded on it he said everu chracter you could not play as well be plyable this mightbe the chance to try him out when its released. anyway its definatnteley confirmed that Khameleon well be playable (March 24 2006) JUustin

You know, we should start linking to vids when you talk about them so everyone can see what has been said. that way at least we know where to find the info to confirm things here. (march 25 2006)

Here is the confirmation on Motaro: http://www.gameinformer.com/News/Story/200603/N06.0314.1902.24687.htm ...Also, please remember to sign your posts with four tildes. -SilentRage 01:21, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

I've got a question. This may sound pretty stupid, but I was looking at the picture of the complete character roster and saw a character on there that I was wondering who it was. It is the character to the left of the robot version of Smoke and above Baraka and Raiden who are row below him. I can't really tell if it's either the human version of Smoke or if it's Noob Saibot. I kept saying to myself that it couldn't be Noob Saibot because Noob is supposed to have a very dark black uniform with shadows surrounding him and it appears in the character here has a grayish uniform without shadows which suggests human Smoke to me. But at the same time the list of characters on the MKA Wiki page only say Smoke, implying the only one we know for sure is Smoke, the robot version towards the upper-right of the picture. It may be Noob but just shown wrong. Sorry for the confusion, but will somebody please answer my question.Vgamer101 18:58, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

That's Noob Saibot. That's what he looked like in Deception. He only looked all black in Deception in his alternate costume. SilentRage 12:58, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Sorry if that sounded like a stupid question. I'm not a console gamer at all, I only play PC games, so something like the content of a Mortal Kombat title hasn't been known to me since the last MK game for the PC, MK4. I was justing basing it off of render art I had seen on the internet where he looked like he had a black costume with shadows surrounding him. Anyways, wouldn't it be cool if they had both the human and robot versions of Smoke? You know that a lot of you would like it! Vgamer101 02:41, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Why on earth do people keep removing Taven's name from the confirmed character list? He's been confirmed as playable, he is a new character, he's confirmed, what's going on?

Beware of rumor-mongering. Particular members of the MK fan community have been known to take vague rumors and repeatedly pass them on as fact, and unfortunately it's bleeding on to wikipedia. I'd like Chameleon and tag-team mode to be in as much as the next guy, but slapping it on wikipedia as fact is a bit disingenuous at this point.

This is rated M

Although the rating is pending, the game will be rated M for Mature so someone should change it.

The game will more than likely be rated "M", but it would probably be best until it is officially rated to state such on the page. Wikipedia likes things to be official when it comes to these kinds of things. The S

More than likely? I'll bet my soul on it. Rune[1]

So will I, as long as Shang Tsung keeps his paws off it. But we can't say that it's rated mature until it actually is. 68.14.76.141 09:33, 7 April 2006 (UTC) (TaintedMustard)
It wouldn't hurt too many small children in third world countries if we mentioned somewhere in the article that it will probably be rated M, would it?--Agent Aquamarine 02:03, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Information on The Fighter's Generation website

According to The Fighters Generation website, Evil Raiden, Classic Sub-Zero, Tarkata Shao Kahn, Hellbeast, Sierra, Tao Long, Drako, Terra and Usui Hasashi are also in the game.

Should this be included in the article? I haven't seen information about these characters appearing anywhere else, and TFG is really just a fansite. Jeff Silvers 23:42, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

-I don't think so. Nothing should be listed here unless it's official info. Shadaloo 00:39, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

The owner of said site is known to be biased when it comes to Mortal Kombat, so I'd take it with a grain of salt. The S

Who in Cthulu's name are those last five? --Agent Aquamarine 02:04, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

-Those last five are more than likely made up horse rubbish from a moron running a Namco and Capcom fighter whoring site.

Just took a look at the page itself. It also contains a completely made up, and at times ridiculous summary of the plot.--Agent Aquamarine 02:51, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Mortal Kombat Wikiproject

Not to spam, folks, but I decided that since there seems to be quite a few users identifiable as regularly editing the MK entries, we should start our own Wikiproject. I've added it to the proposed project list. I've already got some support over on MKOnline to do it, if you'd like to see it happen, show some love and sign. I seriously think, what with the ridiculously obscene amount of info about the series, our efforts would be better spent coordinated. I'm not suggesting that we start from scratch on everything, but to be honest, there's a hell of a bit that needs cleaning up.

I know it's not strictly Armageddon related, but I've decided to put this here, as it seems to be, at the moment, the hotspot on wikipedia for MK talk. Let me know what you think here, or hit my talk page. Shadaloo 08:16, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

As someone who has played Mortal Kombat since its inception, and one who also owns at least one copy of every title to date (save for Shaolin Monks), I hereby add my opinion that a MK Wikiproject is a good idea. The S

Second the motion (Notorious4life 06:55, 5 February 2006 (UTC))
Thirded. On one of the MK Wikis' discussion pages, I expressed a concern over what a mess some of the pages are. Admittedly, I didn't get round to fixing them like I said I'd try, but if this was to become a group effort then it should be easy.
Just as a reccomendation for something I feel could do with sorting sooner rather than later, I'd reccomend we all give focus to the MK TV shows. The Wikis for the characters in Conquest and, indeed, the Conquest Wiki itself, are really remarkably sparse. I know Vorpax, Siro and Taja aren't canon characters, but for as many episodes as they were in, they deserve more than a paragraph or two each. Personally, I'd volunteer what information I could for that, but I'll have to stress the remarkably poor handling of Conquest on DVD in the UK, it completely ignores about 8 episodes and present most of the rest in the wrong order and even combines episodes into mini-movies!
Anyway, yes, this would be a good idea for a Wikiproject, imo. Wikipedia should be an easy-to-use resource for MK fans wanting to know about their favourite characters. --L T Dangerous 22:04, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
That's definitely something I was thinking about. Conquest characters, Malibu comic characters, no stone unturned. Conquest in particular was of note; it introduced some great characters who I felt would have been right at home in the games (I remember a really great wasp-queen character whose name eludes me at he moment). LT, your contributions in that vein would be most welcome!

And on that note, we're off!

The Story

What's the hell up with that? There's nothing that's been said about it all it does is sum up the entire storyline. PNF 19:51, 28 February 2006 (UTC)Proud Nintendo Fan

Be patient, my friend. At this time two years ago, we didn't know all that much about Deception's storyline. It will be revealed in due time. The S 03:53, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

I removed it. It isn't relevent to this game specifically and therefore didn't belong in this article. The real plot can be posted here when it is revealed. Jeff Silvers 01:28, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

Roster

Who's the person standing between Stryker and Sonya?

Jarek The S 03:34, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

if you mean the guy next to Sonya on the left hand side, a man in a red suit in the middle , and Stryker in right corner...
I don't know, but I am sure tyhe guy ontop of that red suit guy is Lui Kang...dead Lui Kang (doesn't he look like Darkadou Ryu)!?:P

It's Jarek. Jeff Silvers 01:29, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

Didn't I already say that? The S 03:07, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

... Yeah, I guess you did. How is it I didn't notice that? :P Jeff Silvers 17:20, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

Maybe because I just wrote a single word (the character's name), or maybe you just overlooked it due to stress, lack of sleep, etc... or a combination. Don't sweat it in any matter :D The S 03:18, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

Not that it really matters, "Jarek The S" looked like the original poster's signature. May want to watch that in the future when the only thing you're adding is a link.--Agent Aquamarine 07:22, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
Bah. Does it even matter? The S 02:44, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

Hero?

Who is this Hero character listed in the roster? His/her name wikilinks to Hero (Mortal Kombat), a page which doesn't yet exist, and I don't recall ever hearing about him/her in any other Mortal Kombat game. Is he/she a new character in Armageddon (perhaps the character used in Konquest, replacing Shujinko in that role)? If so, this probably needs to be addressed in the roster section. Jeff Silvers 17:24, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

It probably refers to the unnamed new character used in Konquest mode, because after doing his fatality in both video interviews (from Gamespot and IGN), the message "HERO WINS" appears. -- Lyon-Ard the Lorekeeper 18:29, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

Boon amusingly referenced to this character in the Game Informer interview as "Bob". The S 03:54, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

Steve Beran Interview

I found this http://www.kamidogu.com/features/beran/ . I thought of mentioning it

Learning that Motaro, Onaga and the such won't share air-kombat capabilities is nice to know, this interview seals a significant amount of speculation in that regard and others. Goroliath

Sub-Zero vs. Scorpion

Also, traditional nemeses such as [...] Sub-Zero and Scorpion.

Actually, wouldn't the "traditional" nemesis of Scorpion be Noob Saibot, since he is the first Sub-Zero? Scorpion vowed not to harm the current Sub-Zero, who is, I assume, the one shown in the trailer (in the poster, Noob is in the fourth row from the top near Smoke and Sub-Zero is in the front row). 68.14.76.151 10:36, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

Since when, did Scorpion said that!? Scorpion isn't going to harm Sub Zero's brother. Anyway...we should wait for the game

>x<ino 18:34, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
That's what I said: the current Sub-Zero is the first one's brother. The old one, Scorpion's actual enemy, is now Noob Saibot, who is apparently going to be a separate character in the game. Obviously we should wait for the game, but my issue is with calling Sub-Zero Scorpion's traditional nemesis, when that doesn't seem to be the rivalry that's playing out in the trailer. The Sub-Zero shown there should most certainly not be Scorpion's enemy. See what I'm saying? 68.14.76.151 21:34, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

First! I need to play MK: Deception! And Shoalin Monks. I don't remember Scorpion having a beef with Noob, maybe it may have happened in MK:Deception. But, Quan Chis as always been Scorpion Enemy, the first Sub Zero was though of an enemy to Scropion, but he found out in MK 4.

>x<ino 02:26, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

I don't think Noob can technically count as Scorpion's nemesis, as Scorpion is not aware of his true identity. The S 02:51, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Seeing as it was proven that Quan Chi killed Scorpion's family, and the fact that Scorpion already sufficiently killed his own murderer once in an eye for an eye situation, all beef towards Sub-Zero is unnecessary.

Come to think of it, Noob Saibot came down to a very ironic twist of fate when he was killed at the hands of Scorpion in his days as the original Sub-Zero. Killing somebody only for them to come back from the dead in a new form, kill you and then have you come back under a new form must be fun. I just wonder why he never went after Scorpion to get revenge?

Noob Saibot is said to have lost much of his memory when he became a wraith. He only vaguely remembered who Sub-Zero (the younger) was when he saw him before he and Smoke slew him in Noob-Smoke's ending.

As for Scorpion retaining his memory, I guess it would be explained by Midway calling Scorpion a spectre, and Noob a wraith. The S 02:39, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

Gamespot has done it this time

first Gameinformer reveals Mortal kombat Armageddon and Now Game spot post this

This includes alot of info including the konquest characters

External links

Just thought I'd quickly clarify a few things wrong with how it's being changed around constantly for nothing more than free advertisement. Alphabetical ordering is a must as it doesn't list them in any arguable fashion. "Mortal Kombat Genesis" is not a freely open news source and "The Kombat Pavilion" is an animations and comics website, both don't require mentioning in relation to the article. Wikipedia is purely a free information resource and it's common sense that external links should lead to further information pertaining to the article at hand. I'm sure most can agree with all of this but any form of criticism is welcome, of course. Goroliath

My personal policy is to only allow links that refer to the game at hand (which in most cases is the Mobygames link), and take out the fansites. The one exception to this is on the Mortal Kombat (series) page, since that's the most appropriate page for general fansites. There's also some WP guidelines regarding fansites as well (mostly in terms of notability or unique information), but I generally don't bother with those. That being said, I'm kind of tired of constantly reverting/deleting fansite additions, so I've been waiting for them to accumulate and deleting them all in one fell swoop. Virogtheconq 16:55, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
I've found that links to fansites that have up-to-date news (ala mortalkombatonline.com ), or ones that have extensive information on the series at hand are good to link to. Stuff that just showcase fanworks or shrines to favorite characters are not. The S 18:00, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Those work too, but it's probably best to link the game-specific page rather than just the main page on that site. Virogtheconq 18:04, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
That sounds reasonable. The S 02:48, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

Looks like someone solved the problem for us by deleting all of them. I actually think this is more appropriate than advertising, if people want Mortal Kombat-related websites they should just check the actual Mortal Kombat article. I'm assuming the same person who kept adding the Kombat Pavilion and Mortal Kombat Genesis was also the pre-pubescent who replaced the entire Discussion page with "FUCKING PWNT!!", too. Goroliath

For the love of Gilgamesh, I hate when these vandals mess with Wikipedia.... The S 02:12, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

The Cast Image

Should that large picture of the entire cast be removed? Many characters have been added or changed since that was created, it's quite misleading.--Agent Aquamarine 02:06, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

It's the only cast image we have, so I vote that it stays. Besides that, the only characters that have been confirmed since the image's release were Motaro and Taven (Mortal Kombat) (it hasn't yet been confirmed that Daegon is playable). The S 02:52, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

I can't see why it should be, characters like Stryker have obviously moved on from their displayed appearance plus the couple of characters absent, but it's an insight into the development phase. Podlasek revealed in an E3 interview with Total Mortal Kombat that they have no intentions of re-releasing the render, so I'm happy with what we've got. Better than nothing. Goroliath

As did Boon in an interview with... (thinks...) IGN, I believe. But I concurr. The S 02:14, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

Meat seems to be missing too, but, since it's the closest thing we have to an accurate roster, I s'pose it can stick around. I'll still glare at it every now and then, as it represents the ultimate deception: telling me that Stryker would be in the game, then redesigning him completely. --Agent Aquamarine 07:27, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

Meat was never actually confirmed as a playable character. Boon simply said that there "may be surprises in the game, like Meat". And it's not deception to redesign Kurtis after the render; most of what was in the render were placeholders. The S 16:31, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
Several articles say that he has been confirmed, including but not limited to 'Minor Mortal Kombat characters" and "Khameleon". Are you sure? And I like Stryker's old look. So there.--Agent Aquamarine 20:09, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

Don't believe everything you read on Wikipedia... heh. Like The S stated, he wasn't specifically confirmed, simply mentioned. Don't get your hopes up, Meat fans... if there are any of you... Goroliath

I never said anything about Stryker's appearance preference (I personally like his alternate costume in Armageddon, but that's irrevelant). I only said that it's not deception for them to change certain characters' looks; after all, the image was created very early in the game's development cycle, and it's not uncommon for placeholders to be used while designs are still being finalized. It's very common in game design, and, to be honest, in a lot of media. That all being said, there have been a lot of fanboys/girls that eat up every bit of information they see about the game, and post it on Wikipedia without checking sources. Everyone recall the "Fighter's Generation" debacle above? The S 02:33, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

Meat

Meat will be playable. I wont add it, because its original research, but I got an email verifying that the character in the bottom left corner is Meat. I can put the entire email here if anyone wants to see it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.219.224.71 (talkcontribs)

I'm sure you're an upstanding person and all, but it won't matter. An email can be faked, and isn't verifiable. We can wait until such a fact is published in an established magazine (or similar) before adding it to the article; the world won't end if we don't add Meat this very minute (wow, I'd feel really bad if it actually did...). EVula 02:19, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
Guess this is irrelivant now that we have the select screen up and he's there. :P SilentRage 16:28, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
