Capitalization

[edit]

Webster's New World Dictionary (Third College Edition, 1988), on page 1588 says about capitalization: Geographical terms (are capitalized) when they are part of a proper name (Long Island, Great Lakes, Dead Sea, Gobi Desert, Rocky Mountains, etc). Eleventh Edition from 2003 adds some new examples like Left Bank, Yosemite Valley, New York City, North Pole....as you probably know, in English even Street, Bridge or Hotel are capitalized if part of a name. Since this is English Wikipedia, names are adjusted to English grammar not the opposite, just like we don't write Severno More instead of Severno more because English do so (North Sea).
