Virus Infected

[edit]

You guys are giving out a website that is purposely giving virus infected video's to it's uers. I gave the link and everything. The TRUE website is movie2k.TV, not movie4k.to. You're aiding people in obtaining virus'. Nice to know you're in considerate of others. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.218.100.206 (talk) 01:32, 27 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

First of all: Calling Wikipedia "You guys" is quite amusing. Secondly: The Wikipedia is stating facs they are not helping anyone. I also heard rumors that for a short time one of the adds of movie2k.to did try to install a virus. I do not believe that this was intended by the host. movie4k.sumovie4k.su is the successor of movie2k.to, while movie2k.tv is a clone. The only difference seems to be the notice at the center of the page: One links to a page with rant against police, law enforcement and others, the other is blaming the "Piratenpartei" in Germany for the clones and it is claiming that it would be the original. Here is what I remember of the last days of movie2k.to: First most requests were blocked here in UK, then shortly after a notice appeared with a rant against the authorities and such a text is still present at movie4k.to. The text also mentioned already the "movie4k"-project. Something like "I will focus on the movie4k project". I was only able one to load this page then the page went down and was later redirected to the pirate party "Piratenpartei" of Germany. They claim that they had no idea why that page suddenly redirected to them and claimed to have noticed it, due to increased traffic and then quickly created a webpage telling people something like: "We have no idea why you were redirected here, but we think that..." and then tell the people about their political views with respect to copyright... Another thing: there is to the best of my knowledge no virus infecting videos! Viruses may pretend to be a video/videoplayer/codec/addin/whatever but they are not infecting videos. To be honest I would not be surprised if both pages movie2k.to and movie4k.to would be made by the same person(s) and the talk about the other page is a clone is just PR.--Do ut des (talk) 14:54, 6 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Business model

[edit]

What is the business model for this service? Can someone explain where money flows, or is it an all volunteer effort? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tomlzz1 (talkcontribs)

They had ads, both on the page and interstitial. Essentially it was an indexing service and didn't host video, only linked to sites that did. 50.90.157.156 (talk) 02:01, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Site now redirects to ivi.ru

[edit]

Should update the article to indicate that the website now redirects to Ivi.ru, what seems to be a Russian streaming website. 2601:603:1200:2340:71D7:BE60:E443:D37B (talk) 01:34, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Pretty sure that the "real" website still exists (or a clone) -- I'll tag the page, maybe update the url. Probably needs more cleanup besides. RexSueciae (talk) 03:23, 31 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
