I think this likely. George Washington Slept Here (1942) was based on a play by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman. What was 'Mr. Blandings' based on, if not 'George Washington'? We need a reference for this. David Spector (talk) 16:40, 10 June 2013 (UTC)

Loy's Affair With Douglas

Loy's character had dated Douglas's character when both were in college. This is revealed when two fraternity pins (and a diary) are discovered among the things moved into the Connecticut house. Grant's character, whose is already miffed with his wife, gets more miffed to discover that his wife had "lied" about giving the pin back to Douglas some 15 years earlier. It is not a serious rift, but it intensifies when Douglas is trapped at the house by a washed out bridge, the children stay with neighbors on the other side of the bridge and Grant can't get home for the same reason. So Douglas and Loy spend the night together alone -- good friends -- nothing more.
