the conclusion[edit]

Just a note -- the conclusion that I came to is that the husband himself pulled the switcheroo. Upon redeeming the ticket, he discovered that it belonged to the mink coat, and promptly gave it to his secretary (with whom he'd been having a fling), purchasing another, cheaper item for his wife.
