Coordinate error[edit]

The following template call faithfully reflects which template the IP 94. ... placed on this page (in conjunction with the material which i have now placed in the blue box --), presumably reducing it to a mention and suppressing wider notifications that should no longer be heeded.Jerzyt 01:36 &02:22, 6 June 2011 (UTC) [reply]

{{geodata-check}}

Please note: the two lines and time stamp in the following box are unchanged content added by the IP and at the time, that the sig-line presents. In particular, no "fixes" for the coordinates were offered.Jerzyt 01:36, 6 June 2011 (UTC) [reply]

The coordinates need the following fixes:

This is not the place of the Museum it's actually in Swindon !!!!

Declined — Coordinates are correct. If you're using Google Maps or Google Earth, try viewing with Wikimapia or Acme Mapper, Google sometimes goes to the wrong place (it's a problem with Google, not Wikipedia). Regards, TRANSPORTERMAN (TALK) 19:10, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Shouting "Steam" in a crowded encyclopedia[edit]

    The official name "STEAM – Museum of the Great Western Railway" is the sort of decision for which i can imagine more than one set of circumstances sufficient to convince me that those who so named the institution were justified. Never the less, our guidelines do not justify our aping them any more than it would justify our aping the wonderful typography of ABBA albums in our title for their article, and somewhere NC this is made clear. In contrast with the band, STEAM apparently makes no pretense of being an acronym. There's no problem with redirects from the names that are unsuitable as WP article titles, but "Steam" is so ambiguous and "Museum of the Great Western Railway" so adequate in itself as identification that i'm following, without consultation, my own inclination that "Steam – Museum of the Great Western Railway" is also too overdone to be the page title. (YMMV, and if so i don't expect to argue further.)

Quotes around word Steam[edit]

   The single-quotes in the wording

Swindon 'Steam' Railway Museum

were added in an edit five years ago, which pretty clearly explains the handful of sites that place such quotes. That 8-month contributor made no explanation, and none of the refs from that time that are not dead offer a basis, but IMO it was their attempt to represent the fact that "Steam" was sometimes used alone in referring to it. IMO the addition of the operators' favored formal name (you'd have to look at their incorporation papers if you really cared about the official name) has taken care of anything sound that the single quotes were trying to put across, and i'm simply removing them.
