Lack of sources

[edit]

The Functions of music in advertising section seems to heavily rely on information from one source. As an assignment for a University of Washington undergraduate class, my group and I are going to be adding some more information and more sources to the Functions of Music in Advertising section, as well as the introduction of the page. We also plan to ad a section on musicians relationship with advertising. Thesquinch 7 (talk) 18:32, 8 December 2015

I don't know how to spell "levee"

[edit]

Well, Chevrolette uses Don McLean's "American Pie", focusing on the "Drove my chevy to the levy". -Yancyfry 04:56, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Advertising in music

[edit]

What about an article about Advertising in music? There are songs which include references to products, or songs which have political propaganda etc.--Coin945 (talk) 15:00, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Credibility with Music in Advertising

[edit]

The edits made on the Article: Music in Advertising; Subsection: Effects on Credibility are due in part by the lack of examples, research, and definitions on said topic. The definition of credibility itself has been added, along side with variables that affect the consumers decision on whether or not to purchase a product. Also, a short list of companies that the general individual should be able to recognize and the feelings they attached to said companies. In addition, there are two parts when it comes to credibility trustworthiness and expertise. Trustworthiness is in the part of the consumer while expertise takes place on the producer/company. Both of these aspects are vital when expressing credibility one cannot happen without the other. The purpose of these edits was to further expand the information on Credibility in Advertising, this will further enhance the readers knowledge by listen other greater examples and definitions on the topic. Entertainment In MusicTraywebb (talk) 14:47, 29 March 2019 (UTC)

[edit]

Entertainment-“It simply draws attention to the advertisement or to the product. In this case, the music in the advertisement does not necessarily need to have anything to do with the product”[2](Andersen 260). The entertaining part of an advertisement is one of the most crucial steps to getting customers to buy the product. Music brings a certain flavor to an advertisement, without the music the ad would seem bleak. Music can create emotion and motivate people. When paired with the right ad music can make a person associate the product with a certain feeling enabling them to go purchase the product.[3]

[edit]

I added a small paragraph on the entertainment portion of the page. I added a small quote on exactly what music does in an ad stating how it is simply there to gain the attention of the person hearing it. I also added my own ideas on what the music in an add like how it ties everything together and how it can convince a person to purchase the product the ad is selling.

Functions of Music in Advertising and Effects of Credibility Edit (saragatur):

[edit]
This article has lacked an alternative perspective and information. In order to fill that void, I have added information about how advertisements are seen as less credible in medias such as television rather than sources such as newspapers. Also, I have added the ways that music has influenced audiences emotions in order for it to be inciting to them. Ethos is a strongly used tactic by advertisers in order for them to reach an emotional connection with the audience to get them to believe in their product or message. By analyzing this aspect I believe that it will help users that are viewing this information understand why music plays such a key role in advertising.-saragatur
By taking a deeper view into the credibility behind advertisements I have provided a way in which they can be seen as not credible. Advertisements in more serious medias such as newspapers are taken more into consideration by the audience due to the credibility that newspapers have themselves. People are going to trust medias such as these due to them being knows for containing factual information. -saragatur
In conclusion, the information that I have added as well as others have helped boost this articles validity and credibility but many more edits and additions to weaker subsections need to be done in order for this article to be regarded at a higher level.-saragtur

Bad References in Entertainment Section

[edit]

Several refs under the heading Entertaiment direct to "LastNaijaMusic", which itself appears to be spam site, and offers no actual reference or support to the article.

I attempted to remove this, but my change was reverted, so I want to bring it to an editor's attention.
