• Keiichi Okabe could be linked if desired; not sure if there's enough on him or not for an article though so I'll leave that to your judgment.

• "reaching a maximum position of 24 for the original soundtrack and 59 for the arranged album." not sure if 'maximum position' is the best ranking for language. Maybe just "reaching number 24.." or something like that.

Should the music from Automata be included in this article?

I wanted to ask before including that game's releases here and getting them deleted by other users since that has happened to me before. What's everyone's opinion? Jotamide (talk) 16:10, 20 April 2017 (UTC)

• Yes, why shouldn't it if enough articles were written on it? If you were asking more if we should have them as two separate articles, just look at the Music of Kingdom Hearts article. ~ Dissident93 ^(talk) 16:25, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
• By "here", I assume you mean at the Automata article, since it doesn't look like anyone's tried to add Automata albums to this article at all. Anyways, yes, I think it would make sense to add the Automata OST here. It's generally discouraged to have music articles for a single OST album, so "Music of Nier: Automata" would be a bad idea unless it gets as many releases as the original has, but it can always be spun out if that happens. Looks like there's reviews up at allmusic and VGMO, so you should be good to go- just make the sections Nier (original soundtrack - Arrange tracks - Echo - Piano - Jazz - Music video) and Automata (original soundtrack), and fill in the new section accordingly. --PresN 16:32, 20 April 2017 (UTC)

• And yes, as Dissidnt93 mentioned it's fairly standard to have music from multiple games in a series together if they can't support their own articles- Music of the Final Fantasy VII series, Music of the Chocobo series, Music of the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles series, Music of the Final Fantasy Tactics series, etc. --PresN 16:34, 20 April 2017 (UTC)

I don't really see much reason not to include the Nier: Automata soundtrack on this article. Obviously, it's another installment of music from the same spin-off series (hence the title of this article), and creating another article for it would be a bit of a waste. It depends on how notable N:A's soundtrack is and, judging from what people have been saying, that seems to be the case. Splitting "Orchestral albums"

@PresN: Hi. I noticed the section "Orchestral albums" was added by you, so I wanted to discuss this here before taking action: do you think it's a good idea to split this section, and create two separate sections for NieR: Gestalt & NieR: Replicant Orchestral Arrangement Album and NieR: Automata Orchestral Arrangement Album?

The thing is that the article was promoted when Automata wasn't released, and I think it still needs more information about the music of NieR: Automata. I want to add two level 3 sections to the "Releases" (as well as other relevant sections) so that we will have separate parts for each game. Alternatively, we can split the articles completely and create a Music of Nier: Automata, but I personally think keeping it in one article is better. What do you think? @Ahmad252: Hah, when I GA'd this article 8.5 years ago there were 2 albums, so any organization the article has now is happenstance- since then, albums keep getting added, but no other supporting structure has been improved. There's no information on the second game here at all, as I never played it so didn't try to build it up. That section is only "orchestral albums" to clump the two similarly-named albums together, I didn't put much thought into it. I kind of do think that Nier Automata should get split into its own article; that said, actually getting around to doing it is low priority for me right now. If you'd rather it stay here and reorganize the sections to split the games apart instead to give some structure, I'd welcome it- feel free to do whatever you'd like, what you propose here sounds good. --PresN 03:19, 27 April 2020 (UTC)

First time editor in need of help

Hello! I want to update this page with appropriate album covers and additional metadata (such as Stock_keeping_unit, composer and arranger).

This information would come directly from Square Enix Store (JP) and Square Enix Store (US). If possible, I would also like to use VGMdb as a source, (example NieR:Automata Original Soundtrack, but I can understand if that's not a valid source.

Furthermore, I'd like to follow through with the edits suggested by @PresN, which is splitting the orchestral albums and grouping them with the appropriate category (such as Nier: Gestalt under 2.1 NieR)

If there's any guide or something similar for editing pages like these, please let me know :)

There's a couple problems with those plans, unfortunately:

• SKUs are not typically included in music articles; it's generally not considered information that relevant to readers as it's just an internal id number.
• VGMDB, while an excellent resource, is a user-contributed site without any editorial oversight, meaning that it's not acceptable as a source.

Other than that, though, I found the best way to edit things is just to try it out and see where you get. Unfortunately it appears that the "visual editor" doesn't work well with the tracklist tables on this page, so you may need to switch to the "source editing" view (click the pencil icon to change editing views). Don't worry about messing anything up, if there's any issues I can tweak them after you. --PresN 01:18, 13 June 2020 (UTC)

Why is the jazz arrangement album listed?

Why is the jazz arrangement album listed here? Is it officially affiliated with the publisher or the original artists? If not, are we going to list every single cover album ever self-published?
