Just a note. The reason the lacrosse records here don't always jive with what the NCAA reports, is because I'm not interested in what the NCAA reports. Their rules are so arcane that only a lawyer could appreciate them. Zach Greer's total records are included here, despite the NCAA classifying Bryant as a transition school that season. Bryant in 2009, played all Division I schools, they beat UPenn, they beat Lehigh, they played 5th ranked UVA. Also it makes no sense the NCAA not including USILA records, in cases where those records are well known. Division I schools regularly played Division II and III schools until fairly recently. So the idea that the NCAA can isolate just NCAA-era or just Division I records is a joke. Thanks. 10stone5 (talk) 23:02, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Scope and sourcing

I removed the few players' entries from before 1971, the start of the NCAA era. That leaves all but a few of the entries sourced to the NCAA record book. There are many unsourced entries in the career points table, as the record book only includes players over 266 career points. time. If you want just NCAA approved records, go to the NCAA records web site which is right here,

I am definitely not going to source every in line data point as that is a waste of time. If you want to

verify any records, just go to that individual school's records archive, every school has a lacrosse web

site containing historical records. If you want everything cited, then do it yourself.

@Mnnlaxer: It seems to me that this page should only include records from the 1971–present era if the title remains "NCAA Division I men's lacrosse records." If pre-NCAA records are included, it should likely moved to a new title like "Men's collegiate lacrosse records" with appropriate citations for verification. Alternatively, the content could be split into two pages, one each for the pre-NCAA and NCAA eras. That seems like the best compromise. B1GLAX2 (talk) 20:18, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
