Nami's attacks

-Added Nami's attacks on... By the way, does anyone know what Nami's dreams are? •DrBlitz

Her dream is to draw a map of the entire world. Kurigiri 13:44, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

"Nami! You are my ___ !"

It seems that quote in Nami's history is constantly changing. We should decide once and for all what we should use there. The ones I've seen are:

  1. Nami! You are my nakama!
  2. Nami! You are my friend!
  3. Nami! You are my comrade!
  4. Nami! We are friends and crewmates for life!

Which should we use, or do you suggest a new one. I say we should go with choice number 2--I never liked how K-F refused to translate it with their silly excuse. Sigmasonic X 06:54, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

I think that (1) should be used, since there isn't really a direct translation to the word 'nakama' in english, and it does seem that nakama has a somewhat of a special meaning in One Piece. (Kurigiri 12:49, 20 June 2006 (UTC))
I understand why K-F use Nakama, and I like the word used. But nonethe less, the translation is friend or comrade. The fact is that One Piece most predominent feature is the dreams and freindship. Same situation with japan, people there dont use the work nakama with the same meaning as it has in One Piece. Friends is good enough, because even in english speach, you can imply different levels of meaning to the word "friend". I vote for (2)! Not becuase i don't like 1, but mostly because i think that there is really no need keep the original japanese word. --Guille2015 20:14, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

I vote for (1), Nakama, because "Nakama" has no direct translation into english, and the meaning behind it is "freinds who are as close as real family would otherwise be". "Tomo" is a word that just means "friend". (Justyn 09:47, 17 September 2006 (UTC))

I vote for (1) also. It seems more of a memorable and classical moment when "Nakama" is used for that situation or any other in One Piece.CalicoD.Sparrow 16:00, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

(1). The reasons are pretty much described above.Lancaster D Mistletoe 11:42, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Arlong's species

Okay... Lets make it clear shall we. Oda states there is a difference between Fish-Men and Mermen. Hell, I can quote the SBS its written in! Fans call them Mermen... They are wrong... The dub calls them Merman... Its wrong. Arlong is a Fish-Man. Come on I wrote this on the Terms page beause everyone gets it wrong! Angel Emfrbl 21:41, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

Nami's changes in character or Oda is getting senile?

In Ch431, Nami wasn't concern about the 100mil belies, she hugged her Mikan trees, but did not hugged the money as one would expect from her. And she was quiet when Franky was talking about the 200mil belies that he stole from them and what he did with the 200mil belies. I have already added this observation into the article under Personality and Relationships. I think we will know more if Nami really did changed or that Oda is getting senile and forgot about Nami's greedy attitude. Kljs 19:12, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

It's character development. Duh. Lancaster D Mistletoe 11:44, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Uh first of all she would consider those trees to be precious because that is the only memory of her "mom", Belle-mere, that she has left. And Oda changed Nami's character at the moment because Franky was going to join the Straw Hats. she trusted him because she trusts her friends more than money. Nami's deadly sin of greed isn't gone, but rather has not had any opportunities to appear. Oda is focusing on how she is overprotective of Luffy and the rest of the crew.

Nami's nickname

"Dorobou neko", meaning Burgler/Theiving cat. Pussycat? Kurigiri 21:51, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Nami considered stronger than Ussop?

I'm not saying that she isn't, but I don't believe that its ever been addressed. Should the line saying that be removed? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.152.161.152 (talk) 19:58, 3 February 2007 (UTC).

There should be NO lines suggesting strength, we don't determine the strength of the crew, Oda does. If we write it down, truth or not, its speculation. We can only guess these things. Though its obivous Nami is no where near Zoro's strength, its not our place to make note of things like that. Perhaps phrases like "lower Tier" or some phrase like that... But we can't say "X member is stronger then Z member". Angel Emfrbl 20:08, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
Exactly, there already is a line saying that, I was asking if it should be removed or not. I'm going to take that as a yes. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.152.161.152 (talk) 1:12, 4 February 2007 (UTC).

You all saw it when Usopp fought Luffy, right? I think he's quite a bit stronger than Nami. (Too bad he thinks he's a cowardly wuss and never really fights that hard.)

Doesn't matter: We can't make such comparison claims despite this. Wikipedia isn't a place you can discuss "Vs." scenerios. Angel Emfrbl 22:35, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Reglaur Vandal note

Just informing everyone to look out for this IP adress:

204.72.116.44

He has been vandalising Nami's page for some while now, replace "Breasts" with "Boobs(HaHa boobs)". If anyone sees him, like up wikipedia's vandal rules and take further action. He has been doing this for a while now. I don't know what else he is doing on wikipedia, all I know this is now becominng apparent he is aiming to vandalise and we can't ignore him. Message is being repeated on Main Page and Nami page. Angel Emfrbl 18:01, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

It would be a shame if that was a public computer. Not only would that conceal his/her identity, but other Wiki users can't put information on there.

Nami x Luffy

Enough with the Shipping (fandom)! Until the day Od makes the relationship real, stopp adding these little things to make out there is one. No matter how much you want a relationship there, you won't get it by keep putting statements onto this page to "make" it real. Angel Emfrbl 13:50, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

Numbering

After Luffy the crew number goes:

  1. Zoro
  2. Nami
  3. Usopp
  4. Sanji
  5. Chopper
  6. Robin
  7. Franky
  8. Brook

Yet Nami is listed as the 4th when that is Sanji's. Can we please correct this, while Nami IS the forth to join, her no. is 2. Angel Emfrbl (talk) 20:51, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Nami's Past

i haven't been reading these discussion pages for a while, so this may have already been addressed, but shouldn't Nami's past be included in this like some of the other characters (execpt for robin, i didn't look at the other straw hats' articles)?--Sanji_1990 (talk) 22:27, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

There should be no plot points on any page. If there are, they need to be removed. Angel Emfrbl (talk) 09:33, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Trivia

Following facts have been removed from the article by more than one editor. And have repeatedly been put back by another:

  • Her two favorite things are money and mikan (mandarin oranges, a symbol of prosperity and wealth in Japan), often translated to tangerines (the English manga uses "tangerines"), because of her love of her foster mother, Bellemere.
  • Her nickname, "Cat Burglar", comes from "dorobō neko", which can also mean "manstealer" in Japanese.

I say it's fancruft and should be removed. Other oppinions?

I would think that her role as Quartermaster and Treasurer is an important detail. 208.63.253.144 (talk) 19:24, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
