It is claimed that "Ghashiram Kotwal"-play by Vijay Tendulkar- "is not supported by any historical facts or evidences." I am not sure about it. Vasudev Vamanshastri Khare's book "Nana Phadanvis Yanche Charitra", first published in 1892, gives the gruesome story of how Ghashiram Kotwal's act of confining Telange brahmins resulted into the deaths of a few of them and how the pressure was brought upon reluctant Nana by Peshwa himself to act. Khare's book is sympathetic towards Nana but even he admits there was something amiss in that episode.

Shouldn't this appear under Farnavis in category pages (changing the sort key), even though Farnavis was not a family name? Schissel | Sound the Note! 15:10, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
